England's Front Three

With their respective starts to the season, is anyone excited to see a front three of Rashford, Kane and Sterling at the World Cup? Or are expectations tempered by seeing Livermore and Henderson in midfield?

I don't think for one second England will get anywhere in the tournament as we'll still face the same psychological issues, but we do have a forward line who are all in form and can frighten the opposition. Our biggest problem will be that we won't be seeded so could well end up in a Group of Death

He won't be playing most weeks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He'll also be playing alongside players he's used to in a system he's used to, and I think he'll get a decent amount of games, in various competitions too. He's already more worthy of being in over Livermore.

Anyway, I'm using him and Dier in the centre as an example. We're not exactly blessed with good options are we?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Get off whatever you're smoking, pal. Harry Winks shouldn't even make an England Team C, nevermind go to a facking tournament. What the hell has he done?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you think this is 2004?

When Jake facking Livermore is starting for England, every single English central midfielder in the premier league should be in serious contention.

I was putting him in on potential over this season.

To your question though, what have any of these midfield options really done? That's why people are considering it a weak area of the pitch.

Alli was atrocious at the last Euros and while his scoring record is good, he's struggling in my opinion to influence games.

--------------------------------------------

If he's not scoring or influencing play in the box I've often struggled to see what else it is he really provides.

I think he's looked pretty average whenever I've seen him in a deeper midfield role. He's much better at coming onto the play.

Winks

What has he done to warrant a place?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm talking more potential, if he can carry on doing well for the rest of the season at a club that should be up there come May.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Winks looks average every time I see him

Team might be good enough to reach the QF's.

Pretty much this

We don't do ourselves justice sometimes. We have good options in forwards and wingers, and two of the best full backs in Europe. Poor choices in midfield and CB though, still have CBs who are comfy playing out the back. I think 3 at the back would be a good way to get best out of the side. Similar to Conte/Poch 3-4-2-1 where midfielders just at its most simple have to have legs.

GK
Stones Dier/Maguire ?? (Any good candidates for LCB?)
Walker Henderson ? Rose
Alli Sterling
Kane

Rashford as good an impact sub as you can get or someone to come in if Alli/Sterling are in poor form

This team might surprise a few people

Forster
Cahill Stones Jones
Walker Dier Alli Rose
Sterling Kane Rashford

The midfield isn’t amazingly strong but when England have the ball, Stones steps up and helps Dier. When England don’t have the ball Dier drops back and helps the defence

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Robb has right idea, though that defence for 3 at the back looks a bit horrible and Dier in CM doesn't help
