The Nottingham Forest Supporters’ Trust is delighted to announce that, following positive consultation with Nottingham Forest Football Club, the proposal to install commemorative gates at the entrance to the City Ground has been given the go-ahead and work is now underway to plan the process through to installation.
Celebrating the legendary achievements of our very own ‘Miracle Men’ the gates will form a lasting centrepiece, reminding our fans and visitors to the City Ground of the club’s incredible period, culminating in consecutive European triumphs.
Daniel Taylor, Chief Football Writer for The Guardian and Forest fan said today
“The idea came about after the success of the I Believe in Miracles film. It was a year ago that I first contacted the club to suggest we could turn the gates into a permanent tribute to the “Miracle Men" and it's wonderful that we are finally now in a position, thanks to the support of Evangelos Marinakis and the new regime, to announce it officially.
“There are many football clubs with famous entrances – Liverpool, for example, with the Shankly Gates – and this will be our way of honouring our European Cup winners at the City Ground.
“We owe a big debt of gratitude to Jonny Owen for making such a brilliant film and all his support. Many thanks to the Supporters' Trust for embracing and carrying forward the idea of the Miracle Gates and I know all the relevant players will be absolutely delighted to hear this news."
John Robertson, double European Cup winner with the Reds also added
“This is a huge honour for us all. I was lucky enough to play in a great football team with fantastic players under one of the best managers in the history of the game. I've been delighted with the recognition we've had since Jonny Owen’s film and Danny Taylor's book. Everywhere I go now in the world people talk to me about that team and it's been wonderful. Nottingham Forest are a special football club. I love this city and its fans. I'd like to thank you all and the new owners from the bottom of my heart."
The next steps for the project are to agree upon the design and determine the manufacturing and installation process. There will be opportunities for fans to play their part, more details on how to get involved will be released in the coming weeks.

That's the thing, obsessed chap... we're both in similar positions, neither excelling and not a patch on parts of our past. It's just that our THEN is far more illustrious, not sure why you wanted to point that out.
I guess that's what happens when these things get posted on both boards.

Anything that spruces the Ground up is welcomed and I always thought the entrance to the CG could be more striking. It is quite a large entrance and should be properly lit up so it looks imposing as you approach fown Pavillion Road. They did start lighting up the back of the Brian Clough Stand in red and white lights at night the other year but this seems to have stopped again. It looked very impressive from the hills up at the Mapperley and Carlton side of the city.
The names on the Brian Clough and Peter Taylor stands were a good step in this direction over the years but there is definitely more that needs doing. The Brian Clough Stand could do with the concourse being widened as it is a bit of a scrum at half time, for example. Don’t think it would be a massive undertaking but I guess the owners would want Prem money to help facilitate such changes...
