........................

Geoff Thomas and Carlton Palmer were atrocious players.
Andy Sinton wasn't too bad a player, although how he kept John Barnes out of the side only Graham Taylor knows and that secret has gone to the grave with him.

If you think the team we played last night was bad you should remind yourselves of the team we put out when we played Sweden and were Ibra'd.

How dare you! Steven George Gerrard MBE played that night

Gerrard is the only one that was worth a damn. Or maybe not for that point in his career? We had Young, Cleverley, Caulker, Cahill, Johnson, Osman, Baines, Hart, Sterling and Welbeck around him.

And we brought on Huddlestone, Shawcross and Jenkinson.

We didn't have any left wingers and after the first two choice of strikers, the rest were gash. Vassell was on good enough form to be picked.

We have decent striking options now but the rest is pretty weak compared to past teams.

The team that lost to Sweden probably been more entertaining than this lot.

It's potentially the worst England squad I've ever seen.

Having said that, I do think the likes of Cahill, Walker, Lallana, Alli and Kane are good players. Other than that, you've got hit and miss players like Bertrand, Sterling and co.

The problem of course is that picking an England team now isn't too difficult because most of top tier teams are heavily reliant on overseas.

If you're English and play for United, Liverpool, Chelsea etc, you'll likely be starting for England.

That's the way it goes now.

The manager lacks passion and his management hasn't got people out of their seats at club level so he too isn't a great fit.

Long rooted problems that will take a long time to eradicate.

I'd add Rose and Welbeck to the list of players who will often turn up for England, at least in the past year or so. Alli hasn't actually been that great in all that time for England. Wilshere was doing well himself before that long injury.

Sterling, no matter how much I'm told he does well for City, always turns into a headless chicken in an England shirt, in the same way Walcott does, even when in a good spell for Arsenal. It should be embarrassing for these 2 guys when someone as poor as Townsend can regularly outplay them at international level.

Does anyone actually still care about the national team?

I haven’t for a long time but I’m looking forward to us crashing out in the group stages next year

The build up is already happening as usual to us “winning the World Cup”

Ronny I think England will reach the quarter-finals or even the semi-finals this time around.
