Stokes

Not travelling to Australia with the rest of the team and Finn has been called up. Going to need players to step up in Oz.

Big loss if he don't travel and a massive boost for the Aussies.

I'd play him simple as

Don't worry James pattinson ruled out as well to even out. Only starc to handle.

Cummins? Hazlewood?

Yep, we can't underestimate Hazlewood, the guy is a seriously good bowler but because he doesn't have the express pace of the others, seems to be a forgotten man.

If Engalnd can't beat this awful Aussie team then they better to shut the shop up.

Plunkett`s test record is fairly ordinary with 41 wickets in 13 tests at an average of 37, Finn`s record is marginally better over many more tests.

However, Plunkett has done very well in the white ball format and (unlike Finn) is an outstanding fielder and dangerous lower order batsman.

The selectors do like a long rake of a bowler down under, and Finn ticks that box at 6ft 6", similar to when they selected Tremlett. Plunkett is no dwarf at 6ft 3" but maybe Finn`s greater experience in tests gave gave him the edge, even though he is a rabbit and ordinary in the field.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
True say but Plunkett gets a game here and there and then dropped when the big boys come bk. How many chances has Finn had?

Serious shame TRJ is a doubt as he had a great start to test cricket

Am starting to despise Stokes.apparently he was out until 3:30 am during the Manchester test..
He mocks disabled children and of course gets into a brawl.
Its ok hes got a wife and 2 kids.. He's a grown up man now.

Do we think Stokes is going to the Ashes then or not?
He'll be a massive loss for England but I suspect he won't go now,.
Trouble is, us English supporters are going to pay now for his stupidity.
Why oh why would go out on the p1ss the night before the Ashes selection? Risk versus reward?
I can only put his behaviour down to excess alcohol consumption. If it's not, that actually makes it worse.

They're trying to reach out to a couple of guys who they think could be key witnesses in bringing more evidence to the table. The ECB have said he won't fly out with the squad next week and until the case is fully resolved, won't be considered for England selection so it could be a while.

England now have to think how they will line up without him, some think we will go with an extra spin option in his absence but that's the wrong call for me, especially as it's Crane. I'd personally bring in Overton at 9 and bump Bairstow, Ali and Woakes up to 6, 7 & 8.

His actions will be partly down to excess drinking but Stokes seems like he has a violent streak in him and if anyone in the team was likely to be out on the lash and done for brawling then it was going to be him.

I think England should call young Sajid Mahmood and Monty Panesar into their test team. They will win the Ashes alone for England.
