Thank God thats over

International week is over

I must admit i didn't watch the England games, i can barely muster up the enthusiasm for it

I cannot stand the rhetoric that goes around "england are not good enough to win things" then get lambasted in the media for awful performances, its just odd.

However i have a few problems, which stems from Woys appointment, this is probably the time when i switched off completely. Tactically inept, Squeaky clean FA yes men towing the corporate line where possible,

It is of my view that there is enough talent in the pool to mount some sort of challenge in a world cup, but the problem is non existent management on a tactical level.

Too many players getting in the England team without merit, and a lot is still based on their reputations rather than their skill level.

I hate to keep banging on about him but Jordan Henderson is a prime example of this, first name of the team sheet, Fecking Captain of club and country yet offers absolutely nothing on a football field, I heard a couple of Liverpool fans talking about him in this way also and I think deep down we can all appreciate that he has no place on this team or even liverpools for that matter. Henderson talked himself a good game, he has used PR to perfection and fair play to him for that because he is currently conning a living a the top level of football.

Reputation over ability,

There are similar stories across the England team, but there is another problem

Managerial tactics

Woy and Southgate have all the charisma of a wet fish and seemingly absolute zero tactical know how. We are playing the exact same way we did under Woy, England just go out and play, and the managers shoehorn the most popular players into the squad and let them do their thing. That’s it, its painful to watch. We don’t play to our strengths we play to our over-inflated opinion. Again with England we shoehorn players in without thinking about tactics

Deli Ali for instance, great player, slightly over hyped for me but a good player none the less however, is he a player that s going to blaze past someone or, unlock a defence…no , certainly not from wide,

Southgate seems intent on playing 4231, a tactic that is tired now and offers absolutely nothing in term of attacking play, it’s a control tactic where everything is played with our backs to goal. It invites pressure and requires moments of magic to unlock the play……..totally wrong for England and doesn’t utilise our main strength…..and that’s pace.
What 4231 or a diamond does do it give yes men woy and Southgate the excuse to play deli and Henderson, now, Southgate has dabbled with 343, but when that is deployed, Ali is pushed out wide completely underutilising him but we continue with Henderson in a central spot, who cannot pass or move the ball forward with urgency and cant tackle. ( literally have no idea what he offers if someone could tell me that be great )

Drop Henderson and play to our strengths,
-----------Hart--------------
--Cahill-Stones-Maguire-
-Walker--Dier--Ali--rose-
-Rashford-kane-sterling-

This is a team which can challenge, playing direct brute force football with a shed load of pace and ability, it completely changes the landscape of our side.

There are 3 other midfield players, that can be utilised nicely into this system which will be overlooked, Chalobah RLC and Delph, all have pace power, can pick a ball and, there is also an argument for Drinkwater as well. We are well equipped with centre halves and wingers in this country and with Bertand and Trippier as back up wing backs, success is staring us in the face by playing to our strengths, much can be learned from Leicester and to a lesser extent Chelsea last year.

Arsene wenger has also ruined one of the most promising players in Wilshire who I hope will fight his way back into contention because in my team would replace Ali in the center of the park. In a 343 when we need someone to unlock a defence.

Alas we are stuck with another wet fish, who wont be able to muster the courage to make big decisions, hes already dallying over the captaincy

Southgate's appointment was the straw that broke the camel's back. I genuinely believe Allardyce would have done a good if not great job but he leaves after 1 game and the younger version of Roy is drafted in, infuriating.

The FA had a choice of Roy or Arry a few years ago.

The went safe and its been all downhill ever since.

I think we may have had a good Euro's under Fabio. I know he screwed up in South Africa but unlike the Roy and Gareth breed, he's isn't the type of manager that wouldn't make the same mistake twice.

MTC - I agree with a lot of what you say. Certainly it's clear that Southgate is not the man for the job. He's a nice clean polite guy who the FA can rely on to be nice, clean and polite. Both Southgate and the people at the FA need to go. I suspect Allardyce could have done a decent job if given a chance - although he clearly has his issues too.

One criticism though, MTC - your use of the name "Woy" is just embarrassing. You are basically making fun of people with speech impediments. It's time for you to grow up.

I think Chelsea should try 3-5-2 formation in matches besides the usual 3-2-4-1 formation in matches.

England need a cryuff or klinsmen or even leow kind of a manager. Sacrifice one euro or world cup and use the time to build a team under a single ideology just like Germany did after 2004 euros. England team has lost its identity. Either be a Chelsea under mou or man utd under Ferguson or a barca under pep. All I see England doing is players passing the ball like a blame to each other. There is no flair, no tactical plan nothing.
