Wolves v Villa Match Preview

By popular demand.............................
Sorry guys, I'm a bit late posting this. This is purely a day before the game preview thread and in no way should be construed as an attempt to interfere with the wonderful matchday thread which will appear when Halfy manages to drag his sorry arris out of bed sometime tomorrow

With a sell-out crowd expected and both sides in excellent form, Molineux should come alive under the floodlights on derby day.

Wolves' feared four front players - Helder Costa, Leo Bonatini, Diogo Jota and Ivan Cavaleiro - are battling for three starting places and whoever misses out can justifiably feel unlucky not to start. Whoever it is will be a wonderful asset to have sitting on the bench, waiting to run at tired legs in the second half.

In defence, Conor Coady was excelling in a sweeper role before his suspension. Ryan Bennett seamlessly slotted into the back three for the 4-0 win at Burton and would be another to feel hard done by if he is not in the starting XI.

Villa's recent run of wins will be a slight concern for Wolves, whose two league losses came against sides bang in form, but they have also shown they can handle the big occasion. It should be a belter.

BBC WM's Aston Villa reporter Mark Regan

It's a game that captures the imagination, there's no doubt about that. Villa are sitting top of the Championship form table, having won their last four games. All of those were with an unchanged side, although that will have to change on Saturday thanks to the suspension of left-back Neil Taylor.

As well as a settled side, Villa boss Steve Bruce has found a formation that has got the best out of players like Robert Snodgrass and Albert Adomah, who has scored four in the past five games. So I can't see Bruce making a switch in terms of moving away from the 4-4-2 that's served him so well in recent weeks. If Taylor was available, I'm pretty sure he would have put out the same XI that beat Bolton.

The managers will have very different approaches and it'll be interesting to see which is the more effective. A win for Villa may win over some more of the fans that a few weeks ago were calling for Bruce's sacking. More importantly, the three points would move Villa to just one behind Wolves.

I don't think that line-up will be too far away, GeminMallorca.
Looking forwards to seeing the lads on the GeorgeMelly. Won't be around for the match thread as I prefer the Mol Mix one, but have a good one and looking forward to seeing the table at around 7pm.

Not if Sheffield Utd put up a 4-0 scoreline against Bute's team.

Sorry Gem, but I read a comment by you whilst I was in the UK about our friend up North baiting me.

It was really grown up of you to ignore it.

Us by a goal I reckon.

Think Costa and cav may both start rather than an either or.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Leaving out Jota? Even if he is jaded from internationals, I think he is another level to Cavaleiro; which is a great position for us to be in.

Think Cavs best isn't far off Jota from an attacking standpoint to be honest but yeah Jota is a much better all round player.

Just wonder if we may go with the fluid front three rather than Bonatini, not sure which would work best against Villa, pace against Terry I would think.
