Point gained, glass half full etc

Seeing United, Chelsea and Arsenal drop points today to smaller sides shows that in the league any points gained are to be cherished.

8 games in and the best defence in the land. 21 goals scored. Can’t complain.

Robb and others.
Do you enjoy watching us play like that?
Do you think it was a game we may have won with a different setup and attitude?
Do you think we have millions of fans worldwide because we can get draws away or because we have a reputation of being a swashbuckling team?
Would you still think it a good result if we lose the league by a point?
Should we be scared of the current Liverpool team?
If you had driven up from London and spent seventy or eighty quid on the day, would you think you had had value for money?

I enjoy seeing that more than I see us lose

If you follow United to say, 20 away games a season and see maybe two boring ones like today and 18 good ones you’ll probably accept that.

I’ve gone to see united at OT after traveling for 4-5 hours on a coach. We lost 3-0. I’m sure I’d hve preferred to see a 0-0 where we defended well against a very good attacking side

Is the only alternative to playing a very defensive game is to lose?

No, but I’m saying there are worse results/performances a united fan will see in his lifetime than today

At least we got a point and can go back to our attacking ways next week.

Admittingly it was painful watching us today. we looked single dimensional with zero threat against them. For me it was very boring, discouraging to watch. One mistake is all what it take in the back net and we would've lost.

This is what you get from Mourinho as a manager - it is all in his package.

He did this all through his career so far - Real Madrid, Milan, Chelsea, and now us United.

I am sure we could have played a more of a balanced attacking football against them and not lost, probably won. Worst scenario - could have been an exciting 3-3 tie game.

The flip side is that we will never use the same approach against them at OT.

I am sure we will attack and stuff them with enough goals

Whilst I can understand why Jose plays the way he does in some games, as he's the ultimate are pragmatist, you have to ask why he didn't try and and stamp a style that's consistent and attacking down. He could have done a lot more and take the game to liverpools awful defense. We have the players that could have caused them a lot of problems of unrestrained.

There are arguments for both, I can see his uber defensive mindset working well in Europe against the real' of the world, and perhaps good that the team can play that way, but let's face it even with pogba our we should have been giving them trouble.

I guess it's something we will never agree on.
For me in any, say, two tough away games, if we lose both I would be fed up, win both and be chuffed. Win one and lose one I accept the ups and downs of sport, but we have an extra point to two draws.
I go (went) to football for the highs and lows, not to hoard points like a miser.
But I accept everybody has their own views, and I have come to realise you are in the majority, and most think that performances like today are a price worth paying if it keeps us near the top.
But I will always be disappointed to see us play without endeavouring to win.

And you'd be far from the only one.

I hate it tbh... Obv see the value in the point... But I'd rather look forward to the big games, feel excited about them etc

At the minute I dread them a bit... I fear 90 minutes of irritation and frustration... The city away game last year depressed the life out of me

JsPC is also right tho... Today's was as much about poor individual performances as much as the tactics... Crap all round

Crap all round. Started at the top. Jose has to take the criticism for this (if there much, a pont isn't a bad a result- as I've said, I understand why he played that way, may not agree.with it, but understood..)

But he set up the way he did, his instruction was in the team. Fair enough we never carried it out to the way he'd want in the brief foray's forward, but that's down to him.

A point is a decent result, the manner obtained; well expect a lot more of this in big games. If you are ok with it, then that's fine, some others might not be...
