The Next Manager

Amazing how the pendulum swings on just one moment. Comfortably in control of a game with our opponent yet to muster an attempt on target. Then Mesut Ozil, our highest profile signing gets a perfect through ball, one-on-one with the keeper, central and with a yuuuge angle to work with, simply hits his usual flaccid shot straight at the keeper and seconds later, we concede the softest pen of the season from a "homer ref" who was keen to make a decision.

I think most of us that saw the team-sheet knew this was one of the most mediocre league sides we've fielded in decades. Watford felt absolutely no fear pushing for the winner late on and regarded us about as much as they'd do West Brom. We couldn't get out of our half late in the game when level in the match with facking Watford!

The next manager that replaces the senile one at the helm deserves a lot of pity. Cos the rebuilding job required here is immense. Think of what it'd take to replace Alexis, and Cazorla, and an ailing Koscielny, and even Ozil, who can still execute basic things that our midfield plodders find difficult. And what it'd take to clear out the mediocrity that permeates the whole squad. Except we get an infusion of short-term, sugar-daddy level squad investment, we're bound for long years of mediocrity. Might be a repeat of post-Benitez Liverpool. Dark days ahead.

I didn't even factor what entering the vicious cycle of no Champions League football would do to us.

Who would you want?

At this point, anyone not named Wenger would do. Just to start off with breaking this toxic cycle and shedding ourselves off of this toxic legacy is imperative.

Lukaku had a sitter at Anfield but hit the ball straight at the keeper despite having about 90% of the goal to aim at.

Early days, but the guy on the oppo bench today has looked pretty capable so far.

Arsenal should sack Wenger, pay him off and get Ancelotti ASAP.
