Referee did not decide the game

The game should've ended before Watford had a say at the end.

You know if Arsenal doesn't score more than a goal in a match away from home will concede in the end whoever the opposition is. Because it is what they always do whether the opponent raising their game, a mistake from the referee, or them being awful on the day.

We're the better team yesterday for the 1st half, but credit to Watford for 2nd half, they raised their game, and whereas dropped due to our bad substituations.

I never get Wenger what was he thinking for putting Ozil on for Welbeck?

He must have thought Watford will probably try go for a draw, so we need to control the game. Seriously, when have we ever controlled a game away from home, while Ozil in the team? I'd get this if the game was at the Emirates because we have the fans in our side and no pressure as the oppenent know no one will give them a chance to take anything from the game.

Ozil was never a fighter.

Wenger should have brought Walcott on for Welbeck because Watford will know one ball over the top for Walcott and the game could end, so they won't push as they did in the end and will probably drop off for any dangerous runs behind.

Then, Wilshere should've come on for Iwobi and keep Lacazette on the pitch as he won't play for the Europa League on Thursday. Then, he can bring Holding on for Koscielny who had a problem.

However, I was not surprised one bit yesterday's result because last 12/11 years Arsenal has been struggling to take advantage when big teams face each other and they know they have a chance to close the gap or create one.

History suggests...

These are only the points they dropped against lesser sides when they knew they had a chance to close the gap for their rivals last season excluding when Arsenal faced big sides.

Oct - Arsenal drew Boro 0-0 And Man United loses to Chelsea 4-0 next day

Jan - Arsenal drew Bou'mouth 3-3 and the next night Chelsea loses to Spurs 2-0

Jan - Arsenal loses Watford 1-2 while the same night Chelsea drew Liverpool

March - Arsenal loses WBA 3-1 while the next day Man City drew Liverpool

2 points out of 12

You know why Arsenal missed out top 4 last season not losing against bigger sides, but being complecent againt lesser sides.
This doesn't work in the Premier League, perhaps in other leagues you can do that though against smaller sides when they are at home they will certainly give you a tough match in the Premier League.

Some people should not think yesterday Chelse also lost why are we often criticised?

Chelsea won the league last season, so they are entitled to just take the foot off the gas and comeback next year as they always do.

Wenger has been doing this over the years and not improving the team one bit.

Man City will be major favourites for the Premier League now as they spent quite a lot and improved massively.

So our best option is to get into the top 4 this season, which is going to be harder as i think we will sell Sanchez and maybe Ozil on January as we can't have them going for free at the end of the season.

Bringing Draxler in Sanchez deal will be great even though Sanchez prefer the Premier League and knows he has a great chance of winning the league with Man City.

I'd not want to see him in a Man City shirt for a guy who has been our best player since he joined the club in 2014.

You know what I fully believe we should also have sold Ozil and Sanchez in the summer. Everyone knew they didn't want to be here and sign a new deal so we should have taken the potential £100Mil we could have got between the 2 of them.

Should have then gone all out for Draxler, Nzonzi, Van Dyke and then looked to see if we could afford Lemar/Mahrez and Cavalho from Lisbon.

Why the fak are we also rely in Kos? He himself has stated he takes injection every game for his Achilles. It was obvious that he would miss a minimum 5-10 games this season.

I agre we should have sold them and said that in the summer. But that does not take away from the fact that in June we were told there was £150m available for player ourchases, then by July that became purchases and the new players wages. Then by the end of the transfer window we had made a profit on player sales, brought in two players, one of which had been agreed beforehand so his wages and lack of transfer fee should not have been included in the £150m and got a lot of wages off the books.

Where did the money go?

With the missing transfer funds? I cant remember if the £150m was before or after Lacazettes fee and wages. even assuming its after, thats about £75m missing. Add to that the estimatd £100m we could have got for Sanchez and Ozil and we could have had £175m replace them and/or strengthen in other areas.

As if they didn't already know what Arsenal's weaknesses are. Anyone (apart from Wenger) can see it. You know it's obvious when even the least insightful pundits like Robbie Savage and Michael Owen can hit the nail on the head when describing our problems. We'll see a lot of average teams bullying us this season.

Our away record has been utterly terrible this year. Most teams no longer sit back against us when we're away from home, they're a lot more confident in taking us on.

It's funny, we couldn't catch up to the top teams because of the financial difference, but others have caught up to us.

Arsenal could have played better, but there's no question the penalty changed the game.

Until that point we were winning 1-0, Watford hadn't even had a shot on target and we were doing 'just enough' to get the 3 points.

The penalty meant we had to commit more men forward to look for the winning goal, which gave Watford more opportunity to push for a winner themselves and also gave them a big psychological boost

comment by trigg_27 This is Watford we're talking about. Not Man City. We should have been out of sight. Wenger picked a poor team and the tactics were poor, so nothing new there. 18 more months of this shiiit to go

Some fans' expectations are so low nowadays.

Don't agree trig. I was pointing this out in the game thread so it isn't out of hindsight. Our possession was reducing in the second half before the pen. And I could see what Marco Silva had changed. He pushed up one of his defenders higher in the second half. This meant not only did their possession improve compared to the first half but it was also dangerous possession "in the attacking third". The pen actually came from good attacking play.

Silva subbed a defender Mariappa, for attacking players, Carrillo and Deeny that underlined Silva's tactics to out number us in midfield. They went for it and we crumbled.

Referee did not decide the game. Yes, except the penalty dive and the offside goal he didn't change the game at all.
