Week 11

Birmingham v Wolves

A high tempo game played it atrocious conditions at St Andrews, they did there best and at times one or the other was on top but neither dominated the way they would have liked, an early goal by Immobile put the visitors ahead after a swirling cross wasn't dealt with by the home defence, conditions made it hard for nice football so often both teams went route one and this how the equalizer was scored, basic, Maguire launched it, Benteke won it and Keita finished it.

As the conditions died down a little the football got better and allowed the players to play, Wolves went back in front when D.Silva showed true class and played in Higuain to alolow him to smash home. This was a very even game and both teams were enjoying good spells, the strikers denied on both sides denied by good defending, Benteke a real handful eventually got his rewards for his hard work, as he headed home from a corner, rising above his marker Cahill.

Birmingham 2 - 2 Wolves
Keita(Benteke)27, Benteke(Brozovic) 82
MOTM - Benteke - A real handful today

Arsenal v Portsmouth

Arsenal have to get up and running or they will find themselves staring at a relegation battle, whereas Portsmouth are finally fulfilling there potential, Portsmouth blasted out the traps and shots reigned down on Buffon's goal, by man he was unbeatable, save after save as Arsenal just couldn't get the ball from Portsmouth, just before halftime tho they did score, however it wasn't pretty, a corner in was headed goalwards, Buffon saved yet again and punched clear, Mertens battered it back in low and it came off Stefan de Vrij for an unlucky OG, buffon had no chance. Arsenal started better in the second half and had there fair share of the ball after a battering in the first half, however they were soon to have the game turn in their favour, two quick yellows in succession saw Hector Bellerin see red as he was sent off on the 57th minute, Tino shouted orders and this calvanised Arsenal as they put more pressure on the Portsmouth goal which they did well to keep in tact. But, the introduction of Mandzukic was to be very important for the home side, he had ten minutes to save Arsenal and he did so o, 3 minmutes after coming on, space was found by Neves, Manzukic stole a yard on Varane as he collected the ball and pushed the ball under the on rushing GK to put the game on level terms, with 11 this may have been 3 pts for Portsmouth but a silly red spoilt the day for them.

Arsenal 1 - 1 Portsmouth

Mandzukic(Neves)83
Stefan de Vrij (OG)43
Red - Bellerin 57
MOTM - Buffon - Game was over early if it wasn't for him

Newcastle v Aston Villa

A top game on paper with two teams at the top end, Villa just losing ground a little bit, it was end to end stuff, but both keepers and defences were impenetrable, neither side could find a way through and when they did they found two keepers in excellent form, they both had chances to take the lead, but on the day just couldn't find the back of the net, any other day this could have ended 3-3 with lesser keepers but unfortunately for the sell out crowd it wasn't to be

Newcastle 0 - 0 Aston Villa
MOTM - Oblak - just ahead of Lloris today but both were excellent

Everton v Hull City

Hull have been plugging away this season, with out much luck, Welshy sticking to his guns, they do have a good front 3 now to give them a chance, Everton much improved tho and went in as big favourites and the early signs were that this was going to be a home 3 points, Welshy has a good gameplan and his team stuck to it which nullified the Everton attacks, the game progressed through the minutes and Hull created chances but were on the back foot at times but defended well, they got a breakaway goal on 82 mins as the new legs of Milik and Forsberg created a great chance between them and the stiker battered it him after a low cross was drilled in, there was time for an equaliser, it just didn't come in a much needed win for Hull City

Everton 0 - 1 Hull City
Milik (Forsberg)82
MOTM - Biglia - did the simple things right and shielded his back 4 very well

Tottenham 1-2 Chelsea
Lukaku (James) ; Neymar (Ceballos) Griezzman (Pogba)

The away side had the majority of the play but Spurs set up worked well, they congested their defence and so although the away side and front trio had joy in beating their man, there were few meaningful chances. The front two of Spurs with James behind caused plenty problems of their own for Chelsea, and had just as many real chances. Away side had the quality, but took a little luck to get the win.

MOTM: James

Stoke City 2 – 3 Liverpool
Martial (Kovacic), Lemar (Rashford) ; Dybala (Carrasco), Belotti (Philipp), Carrasco (Dybala)

A high tempo match where goals were a plenty. The high press employed by Stoke proved to be a dangerous game, high reward but it ended up being higher risk as it left them exposed by leaving lots of space behind when Liverpool got past this.

MOTM: Dybala
