Pochneys Vs Liverpool

Well here we are again, the trip to spurs where we generally outplay them and take points of them; they never understand how we do it becsuse they tell us they always finish above us ( I think its 10 times in about 50yrs ish) so should beat us.

Even worse this season as they play the game at Wembley, or Anfield South as a few of us know it affectionately ....more space, less intimidating atmosphere and the likes of Firmino, Coutinho and Salah will love the space.

I like spurs, always have; they play the game the right way and always have, just like us, but without the trophies!

Spurs dont concede much while we have 2 clean sheets back to back, likely to be a tight game and a good one for the neutrals. Rate Kane and boyhood fan alli, beyond that its a bit sparse really. I foresee the recent trend of point taking continuing vs the pochs, lets hope its a good game

My team:

..................Mignolet. .............
Gomez..Matip..Lovren..Moreno
...........Milner....Wijnaldum. ....
.......................Can....................
Salah.........Firmino. ....Coutinho

Spot on with Spurs its always humorous banter. For me its always in this order:

1) United
2) Chelsea
3) City
4) Spurs
5) Arsenal
.
.
20) Everton

I like Liverpool .They good team if they sort out their defensive issues they would be almost unstoppable.

I also have no axe to grind with Liverpool. In fact I spend a lot of time in Liverpool with friends. My only downer is the need to keep bringing up, on a daily basis, how great Liverpool used to be. They are clearly not at the top of the tree anymore. Just a fact, but quite a big one.

Members like the OP that rival opposition fans up. First the Everton lot and now criticising the Spurs lot. Respect them, they are a good side. Not bothered about history of where teams have finished, lets look at the more recent history. Spurs are a good side and for me, a more advanced top side than Liverpool at the moment in my humble opinion.

I'm going for a 2-1 Liverpool win. Spurs still don't convince me at Wembley on the bigger pitch which is helping a lot of teams and with Liverpool's record against the top 6, the omens point to an away win for me. Not sure how Davies will cope with Salah or even if Spurs stick with their 3 at the back, can't see Sanchez or Vertonghen dealing with the press and movement of Firmino and Salah and Alderweireld may struggle against Coutinho as well.

As leaky as Liverpool are, I think potentially this defence might be able to handle Kane. Its how they nullify Eriksen for me in this game.

The here and now? Ok, out of spurs and lfc who won the league the last 5yrs? Neither....so stop going on about finishing a few places higher, it means jack.

Well it clearly does mean jack. If one gets to play CL footie and one doesn`t because of a few places, then it means a lot. Financially it is absolutely essential for the top clubs, with their mega wage bills to be playing in the CL so we are told. Spurs may not win the league, but they will in all probability be playing CL footie again next season, Liverpool probably will not be.

Got to agree with this.

Spurs much much better team than Liverpool.

City Chelsea United Spurs Arsenal likely to be top 5. No space for Liverpool this season

The only teams for me so far that I think will finish above Liverpool are the 2 Manchester clubs.

Chelsea seem very unstable, both on and off the pitch in the early stages. The Costa saga, the players moaning about his methods, Conte's future in doubt etc. A dark cloud is hanging over Chelsea right now.

Spurs do not look convincing at home whatsoever and I don't think they will beat any of the top 6 at home this season by the looks of it. Relying on your away form in this division is playing with fire.

Arsenal are just Arsenal. Wenger out/in parties still can't decide what they want, Sanchez wants out, Ozil is lazy and they don't look good enough and still lack that drive to push to the real top end of the table.

Liverpool just look inconsistent right now. People talking about Klopp's future right now, Coutinho saga and defensive issues. Can't be good.

For all the positives these clubs have, there are also negatives as well. None of the top 6, excluding both Manchester clubs, have shown me they are more willing of a top 4 place than any other so far. The table won't lie, but we aren't even 10 games in yet, some early warning signs are there, but still A LOT of football to be played yet. Things will change for sure.
