not in his current role. he needs to go back to his original position and role.
Henderson isn't a dm or a playmaker. yes he has a pass but defensive positioming and anticipation aren't his forte.
he does have an incredible engine, can press like lallana, likes to break the lines from mf and burst in to the box. back when stevie was playmaker in the no6 role, Jordan was a terrier without the ball and would charge fwd to join attacks. big part of the team when Suarez studge and sterling were causing mayhem.
I do wonder, however, whether his mystery foot injury has ruined that aspect of his game, so klopp uses his passing.
this position is crucial to klopps system. with a defensively capable dm to drop in to cover others or become a 3rd cb when required, our cb would be less exposed. this isn't to deflect from the mistakes of cb or gk but if theyre not exposed as much, then they'll be less nervous about facking up and less prone to futher mistakes.
now would Can be a better choice? marginally imo. on his day a good player. but not a world beater. can he play dm? yes but not long term. he should have better positional sense from his cb days and is more robust than hendo. long term can(if he stays) will replace hendo as a no 8, but we need a proper dm.
so to sum up. hes not bad but in the wrong role.
just for fun id like to nominate William carvalho from Lisbon as a must buy for dm. check him out
so for the short term to rebuild some confidence id play
