Boyd was on radio Scotland last night discussing, among other things, the situation at Tannadice. This is what was said:
Kris Boyd: Dundee United are another club since, when you go back to the Rangers scenario, Dundee United have been in decline since then as well. It’s one of those ones where you need to be careful what you wish for. Stephen Thompson was a big part of that.
Kenny McIntyre (host) – So you’re talking about his stance on the Rangers situation?
Kris Boyd: 100%. I think when you look at his club, that’s backfired on him, there’s no doubt about it.
Tom English [bemused]: How has… what? How has the Rangers situation back fired on them?
Kris Boyd: The way they went about it. I feel it has been in total decline since then. They’ve went down into the Championship, they’ve struggled with Premiership players, they’re still paying the big money.
Tom English: I don’t think their Rangers stance has anything to do with it, Kris.
Michael Stewart: I get where Rangers are not happy with the stance Dundee United took with them, but I don’t see the correlation with that and their position now.
Kris Boyd: What I’m saying is, since Rangers have went down the leagues Dundee United have followed.
Whit? In what possible world is it that United were relegated because of what happened at Rangers? It literally makes no sense at all.
Did the Rangers situation make Jackie and Thompson flog our best players for millions? No.
Did the Rangers situation make Jackie and Thompson fail to re-invest the money in decent players? No.
Did the Rangers situation stop Thompson sacking Jackie when he should have, after the cup final against St Johnstone? No.
Did the Rangers situation make Thompson appoint Mixu? No.
Absolutely bonkers.

They are two completely separate things though.
It's like saying United getting relegated is tied to the fact we changed pie supplier a couple of years ago.

There's a saying in statistics - "correlation does not imply causation".
However, in this case there's isn't even any correlation! United did pretty well up until 2015-16 season - the fourth season after Rangers' demise.
He's also ignoring that the likes of Ross County and Partick Thistle have seen far more success on the pitch since the pre-Armageddon days. Quite a few clubs won their first cups in decades.
I wonder what it must be like to have your brain so starved of oxygen that you believe such nonsense. I hope I never find out.
