DUFC News

I was on a day off yesterday so couldn't put together a bit of news regarding the Terrors so it's a Tuesday treat for you all.

United went to Dumbarton and recorded a 2-0 win against the Sons, and by all accounts it was a terrific performance by the Terrors under caretaker manager Laurie Ellis. He made a few changes - reverting to just one up front - and he was rewarded with a good performance. It's particularly pleasing given how we've struggled against Dumbarton this season and last. Matty Smith, Tam Scobbie and Scott Fraser all featured and that's pleasing.

The focus is however still on the manager situation and it seems to me that the names of those in the frame are being released deliberately to gauge the opinion of the fans. McIntyre and Hughes were favourites and the reaction I've seen has been overwhelmingly negative.

The most recent candidate however is former Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo. After the initial bemusement, I'm actually warming to this idea and I think he'd be a good appointment. He did well at Hearts (under a challenging chairman), and he's gone on and done well at other clubs. He obviously has an idea of what the game is like here so it's not entirely left-field.

I would not be disappointed with Laszlo as the new manager.

We will however wait and see what happens. It'll be interesting to see if we have a new manager appointed for the visit of St Mirren on Saturday. A massive game which we really need to avoid defeat in.

A good win. Would have been nice to rattle in a few more just to get the GD up, but to be honest I’ll take the clean sheet. Like you I would welcome Laszlo, I know McIntyre and Dodds were being touted but we have a dreadful record when it comes to players coming back and I would worry about that happening again. Yogi I wouldn’t be able to take seriously.

Chatting to a guy who works at the club who said he reckons Quinn might not play again. Sad if true. What I would say is that this guy has almost a 100% record of being wrong when he’s talking about stuff like that (although he did mention last week about Laszlo, so who knows!)

Huge match this weekend and one I’m looking forward to. I really hope they bring a good crowd up, one of the things that has really been lacking this season is an away support at Tannadice to bounce off atmosphere wise, so all you end up hearing is the guys who are moaning about what’s happening on the pitch.

border - I feel for Quinn. It must be pretty horrible.

From a team point of view though it's been disastrous. I felt we needed another CB and it's obviously been a drain on resources to have a player who can't play.

The reporting from the Tele has been awful through this, just running stories based on bookies odds. Have they had a falling out with the club because they've not had anything substantial on any of it?

Who knows, but both the Tele and The Courier have been hopeless reporting this one. Not even any decent rumours...!
