Wolves in the Prem

OK so the next little brain teaser to keep everyone amused while the boring international break goes on and on and on.......

Lots of poetic licence here because we are now going to assume that Wolves are promoted at the end of the season and that we sign all of the current players that are on loan. We will also assume that everyone is back to their best after injury (Costa)

So if we find ourselves in the Prem, the questions are:
Are the squad strong enough to compete?
And if so, what would be your best starting 11?
Which positions do we need to strengthen?
Who would you sell on?

My best 11 (and, yes I do think they would hold their own)

Ruddy
Miranda
Coady
Boly
Doherty
Douglas
Neves
Saiss
Costa
Bonatini
Jota

I think we need another right wing back, another striker or two, another attacking midfielder and another defensive midfielder.

I would keep Batth, Hause, Bennett, Vinagre, Cavaleiro, Iorfa, Ronan, Norris and N'Diaye

I would not keep, Evans, Ebanks-Landell, Ayeh, Deslandes, Price, Marshall, Zyro and Enobakhare

So what do you think?

Go!

A great question and comparison, Spangles; one that is difficult to answer. My immediate reaction would be to say no, and keep the Wolves team, however Burnley under Dyche are doing magnificently in a much higher division than us. I think Wolves has the better individual players and has a great deal of potential. At the moment, Burnley have a better team.

Difficult one to answer, though. . Would probably still plump for Wolves after all that.

It isn't a much higher division is it? It's the next one

And no I wouldn't swap, a year from now we will be above them.

Burnley doing well just highlights how poor the prem is, outside the top six it is a crap shoot

If we get promotion our defence is going to be tested every week by much, much better strikers than they are now. Ok Man City did not score against practically our second team but that was a one off game. I suspect we will need quite a bit of beefing up in all areas to be competitive. But there is still a long, long way to go until the end of the season and possible promotion. I hope to see the team continue to play well and improve and dominate the opposition. They should have all the confidence in the world at the moment and that counts for a lot

No picking and choosing individuals, a straight swap 11 for 11. Would you take it?
..........................

a brilliant question

burnley are basically a better version of wolves under mick - great effort, courage and unity fighting against the big boys, a team you would be proud of.

but this wolves team is playing the best football with the most skillfull players ive ever seen at molineux. i cant get over one who cant even get in the team. vinagre is probably most skilled fullback we've ever had, and he's 18 for gods sake !
so no, with all respect to burnley, i wouldn't swop.

Burnley would comfortably win promotion from the Championship this year though. They are better than most teams we will face at this level.

So whilst you may think it’s a crap shoot, it is still a higher level than we are facing at the moment.

Good question DJ, my slightly cryptic reply would be that I would stick with what we have but I'm not as convinced as Cinci that we will be above them next season, in 2/3 years'
time maybe but next, I'm not sure.

In Dyche and a number of their players they have a good degree of experience and nous at that level. Just look at Wardy for instance, a player who wouldn't match many of ours for ability, but has about 200 premier league appearances to his name and 50 odd international caps. That kind of experience wont win you many friends but will win you points.
