It's 6th May 2018, the last league game of the season away at Sunderland has finished and Wolves have missed out on automatic promotion, they are 3rd in the League and now face the lottery of the play offs.
Are you happy because it's better than you hoped for on 1st August 2017. Or are you disappointed because on 8th November 2017 Wolves were top of the league, playing sparkling football at times, and at that time looked the best team in the division, and may well look to strengthen even more in January.
So are you going to be pleased that we are in the play offs, or disappointed that we weren't able to maintain the form we managed in the first 3 months of the season. Have the opening 16 games been so good, that to miss out on automatic promotion now would be a disappointment.
Would you be happy with 3rd?

Every side in the Championship "aims" for automatic promotion and they target first or second. Nothing new there.
How can the play offs be a lottery? The teams aren't picked out of a hat to decide who goes up, the teams play each other on a two leg basis and then the winners go to Wembley to decide who goes up.
Fosun are an investment company who have publicly stated their aim is to get promoted. Obviously the sooner the better. To state that they expect Wolves to finish 1st or 2nd is, to me, piling on way too much pressure on the coach and the squad.
That's why Nuno is taking it one game at a time and saying "we haven't achieved anything yet".

Not sure I agree that "Every side in the Championship "aims" for automatic promotion and they target first or second." Realistically, some teams aim is survival. Others believe that reaching the play-offs is a good achievement.
Despite any clubs' "aims", there are only a few clubs each season who have the means to reach the top two positions. Wolves is one of the clubs that can do it this season with Fosun's investments in players, staff and management.
Like I said earlier, I would not have taken a play-off spot if offered at the start of the season and I don't believe that Fosun have invested between £50m and £70m to only reach the play-offs which are generally described as a "lottery" because any of the four teams reaching them can win through, not the 3rd placed team or the team in form.

At the start of the season, with an untested manager and a bunch of new players half of which i'd never heard of, i would have been really happy to be in or just below the play-off spots at this stage.
Now, i know this side can win the league and so i will be disappointed if we don't finish top.
Last day of the season if we've finished third? Gutted. And worried about the play-offs. Memories of Bolton and CP and the pain of missing out. But also a little excited at the potential of a big day out winning at Wembley. Not seen us do that since the Sherpa Van trophy.

Talking last night to my stepson who is a rank Villa fan about our wolves team. He actually asked me did I realise before the Villa game how good we were ! As though complaining that I hadn't warned him !
. To say that he was stunned by us is an understatement I don't think his flabber has ever been more gasted. He's still in shock 3 weeks later.
