Two Very Talented Forwards

Afternoon all.

Liverpool fan here.

I would like to talk about the two talented forwards Man Utd possess, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

They are both very talented and have potential to be special. But of the two, who do you think is more talented?

If you had to choose one to keep, who would you choose?

In my opinion I think Martial is the more talented one. Better dribbler and stronger. I also don't quite get why Man Utd do not play a 4-4-2 formation with these two up front? Fergie used to play 2 strikers. I think we haven't seen the best of Martial because he is being played on the wing imo.

Thoughts?

I think Martial is the more likely to take a step up and establish himself as a world class player. Rashford is good and has a better attitude but I'm not sure if he'll improve from the level he's currently at.

I'm not sure rashford will get to be world class, he's got the application certainly and is a superb player, but to by world class? Has quite a long way to go yet.

I agree with you. Do you mean Martial though as I said he's the more likely to make the step up imo.

Of course Rashford will improve. Strange to think a guy who’s just out of his teens won’t improve.

Rashford has just turned 20 years old. Nobody can possibly know whether he will become a world class player.

Where were Drogba and Klose at 20? Ronaldo was a wasteful showpony at that age. Suarez was still at FC Groningen, and Alexis was on loan at River Plate from Udinese, where he'd spend three more seasons.

The question doesn't even need to be asked for another five years.

It depends. I think sometimes the best version we see of a player is the teen version. I always felt a teen Rooney for instance was the most dangerous even though he become a better goalscorer by his mid 20's. Same with Owen.

Yeah that's ballacks. Rooney wasn't at his most dangerous at Everton and his first season at United when he was a teenager.

People only say this because his best tournament for England was as a teenager. It's not true at club level.

Rooney was comfortably at his best in his mid-twenties.

Yep early to mid twenties was when he was at his best.

The teenage version was probably my favourite teen player of all time. I didn't watch him as much as you would have so you're probably right but he always impressed me most during his earlier years.
There are other examples of players peaking in their teens like Pato. Obviously, injuries play a part in all this too.
Point is, there is no certainty that a player will improve that much (or at all) from their younger years.
