Leeds Utd v Middlesbrough Matchday Thread

Before you start, I know it's only Friday and the games on Sunday, but needs must and here it is in all it's flag waving, placard raising glory , Welcome to the Matchday Thread and the visit of Mr Monk and his gang to what will hopefully prove to be Fortress Elland Road

Venue..Elland Road..Date..Sun 19th Nov...Kick Off..13:15hrs

Found this ref TCs Team selection, more or less covers everyone <laugh
Christiansen has line-up decisions to make, and one of them may be to bring Felix Wiedwald back in goal, with fans keen to see the German come back in for Andrew Lonergan between the sticks.
Luke Ayling, Pontus Jansson, Liam Cooper and Gaetano Berardi should make up the back four, though the likes of Conor Shaughnessy could be pushing for playing time.

If Christiansen goes back to two central midfielders, Eunan O'Kane may be the man to drop out after being substituted at Brentford, leaving Ronald Vieira and Kalvin Phillips as the midfield partnership.
Stuart Dallas – if fit – should surely be given a chance to shine on the left, with Samu Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski also supplying striker Pierre-MIchel Lasogga, who may be at risk of being dropped after some poor, anonymous displays, but his goal threat may just keep him in the side.
Kemar Roofe will be pushing for a start either out wide or in attack, whilst the likes of Lonergan, Shaughnessy, O'Kane, Hadi Sacko, Jay-Roy Grot and Pablo Hernandez could feature from the bench as Leeds desperately seek to turn around their fortunes.

Match facts
Leeds are unbeaten in their last four league matches against Middlesbrough at Elland Road (W3 D1), with their last meeting a goalless draw in February 2016.
Middlesbrough have failed to score in four of their last five league games against the Whites, winning 3-0 in the other match at the Riverside.
Only Birmingham (22) have attempted fewer shots on target than Leeds (28) in home Championship games this season.
This will be Garry Monk's first return to Elland Road since leaving Leeds at the end of last season; Monk won 14 of his 23 league matches at Elland Road last season (D4 L5).
Kalvin Phillips has scored five goals from six shots on target in the league this season.
Middlesbrough haven't won any of their last eight away second tier matches played on Sunday (D3 L5), failing to score in seven of those games since a 2-1 win in February 1998 against Stoke.

Right , Flags, Cards and slagggin off Garry Monk to one side, I think we could struggle against a side that's found their form just when we seem to have lost ours, Both Managers will be desperate to get the points here to take a bit of pressure off them .
Prutts is backing them for a 1-2 scoreline with Assombalonga getting the 1st and a few other pundits have us as underdogs despite the home advantage with our Fans
But pundits aren't always right so a nail biting 3-2 finish for me with Saiz ,Dallas and Viera scoring

I really want to see an apology for that penalty and a red card for Ayala for grabbing Ayling round the neck and throwing him on the floor like a WWE wrestler

That penalty stopped is getting into sixth. Terrible refereeing

Awful refereeing display. Led to a tense last half hour. Three great points.

Just thinking, if that had been the last game of the season, that decision would of have cost us a play off place😩

It wasn’t the ref, he had to give it after linesman intervened... how they both missed the strangle in ayling first however is anyone's Guess.

Ayala is the kind of player you’d probably love if he played for you, but he doesn’t so you can see him for what he is... a complete coont. How he stayed on the pitch today with some of the stunts he was pulling is beyond me.

I don't see how the linesman spots Ayling's infringement but can't see Ayala throttling him.

Having said that, great display of resolve by all the players today. Great performance

Refs have a lot to watch for, not unusual to miss the original foul but get the retaliation. Happens all the time.
