Where does Costa fit?

Ok we have all been waiting for Costa to show some of the form we all know he has, his little cameo yesterday showed a brief spark that maybe his form is returning.

So, where does a fully fit and in form Costa fit? Surely not the bench.

WITSS

it won't be hard for us to sign a striker that is better than what we currently have in the squad. eno may have potential and be one for the future but I would be concerned if we were left to play from feb to may with him as our own fit forward.

competition for places and momentum are really important. if leo hits patchy form or picks up a knock, i'd be happy to see some of the names being mentioned there for back up. or if we sign someone who hits the ground running and bangs in 8 in 6, it may be that leo has to settle for first reserve for a while.

what nuno and wolves appear to think is that we are not the finished article up front in our squad just yet. a point proved by just missing out on a striker on deadline day, and continuing to pursue suitable targets now.

Mind you WITSS does make a valid point. as things stand we look more than capable of winning this league.

So I would be keen to tie up some of our loan signings, Jota obviously, but I really like the look of Vinagre who I think would be a real asset,

Unless there is some outstanding forward, it might be worth waiting, especially with the FFP rules.

I'm sure Nuno has faith in Enobakhare as he does seem to select him ahead of Zyro, who I think will be gone in January. But finding the right striker in January is not always easy and from the position we're in now, I'm happy to go along with the current squad. We also have an exciting prospect in Morgan Gibbs-White. So as I stated before, I'd rather spend any spare cash on securing the services of our current loan players.

Been looking forward to seeing Costa and Jota playing either side of Bonatini and that may now happen soon as Costa looked sharp yesterday for the first time since his injury. Cavaleiro remains inconsistent. I thought in the first half yesterday he played as well as he has all season but he faded second half and he had been poor in the previous three games.

Don’t think there’s any doubt we will sign a centre forward in Jan. We just missed out on getting one in August and we have been lucky that Bonatini has stayed fit and been a success because he is the only one of our forwards suited to the central role

If we missed out with one during the summer, surely it'll be harder to get one in January. Plus we only had a striker (Bonatini) on loan. Now I'm sure the club isn't panicking too much, but if we get one, he'll have to be as good or better than Bonatini That could prove difficult, so let's just wait and see.

Not sure why he has to be as good or better than Bonatini, we just need strength in depth and as it stands if we lose Bonatini it would affect how we set up and we would likely end up playing Cav centrally instead.

Playing to their ability and fully fit it would have to be Costa, Bonatini and Jota.

Cavaleiro is inconsistent but still a really good player who we are lucky to have. The way Nuno manages the team both Costa and Cav will get plenty of match time before the end of the season.

Would still sign another striker in January though, but he would have to be good enough to challenge for a starting place ahead of Enobakhare, who I think will improve but is still not good enough.

Be interesting to see if Nuno can make a player out of Enobakhare. No doubting his ability on the ball but his decision making is so poor a lot of the time and he just doesn’t recognise when to release the ball. Little evidence that he has the football brain to go with his ball skills. Whether experience and coaching can solve those shortcomings, time will tell

As I mentioned before they should sit Eno down in front of a big screen and show repeated clips of Cavaleiro's finish yesterday. That's what Eno needs to add to his game more than anything.

Not as good as what we have started with for most of the season. Bench / decent squad player.

Might get the odd start on a rotation basis.
