It would never happen

See someone has put in a £300m bid to buy Newcastle from Ashley

Seem to remember being told on these boards that no-one would touch Newcastle with a barge pole and there was no way in hell anyone would match the £300m price tag Ashley put on the club...

Wonder if the debt the club has to Ashley is going to be paid off as part of this deal, interest free after all these years, suppose we shall have to wait and see.......

A couple of points on this. For one, much of this conversation goes back a good few years and in that time there hasn't been a single bid for Newcastle United. Ashley has had the club up for sale for a while with no offers.

Secondly, Newcastle have dismissed the news of this report that PCP are taking over as nonsense and pure speculation. They have been linked with a takeover for months now and it hasn't come to anything, so we will see what happens.

No surprise that Newcastle fans are willing it to go through though given how desperate they are to get rid of Ashley. After how bad things were for us when he was involved here I can't say I am surprised. Here's hoping he doesn't come back anywhere near when he does sell.

Who is dismissing the bid?

This won't happen at 300m .....Ashley wants way more than that having given 150m in loans !!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nope. All he wants is his money back.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
He paid 135m for the club and has lent them 150m ....so he wants more than he's paid out. He wont sell for 300m which is an opening bid.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Quite.

Now in my understanding of the maths there £150m plus £135m is less than £300m. He’s getting more.

This isn’t a haggling competition or an auction. It’s the only serious bid and the final amount will be worked out after due diligence.

Ashley will sell at £300m. Trust me

Would like to see them taken over by someone willing to grow the club, this investment firm don't sound any better than Ashley.

They need a mad sheikh

"I think he would bite the hand off for £300m because ultimately he will make much more longer term through the various sponsorship and advertising deals that are left in place.

As others have said Newcastle are a fantastic prospect for anyone looking to buy a club, but the reason no one has came in and the reasons given on this topic over the years as to why no one would want to go near it is because of what you are actually getting with the money. Ashley has so many parts of the club tied up that even if he sells at £300m he will continue to make a fortune long after he goes. The £300m is more or less a retainer for his time."

I would like to see the proof that all the deals Ashley has will remain in place once he sells up

Looks like some tough negotiations ahead.
