Interesting United Story out of Texas

Thought it be interesting to share this with y'all.

So, down in Houston, a friend of mine was at our local team's conference finals game between the Houston Dynamo and Seattle Sounders and he met a United's 1st team Scout for the Americas, Jorge Alvial.

Alvial didn't specify who he was scouting at the game but if I had to venture a guess, it's either Elis, Tomas, or Manotas from the Dynamo. For the Sounders, I think it's Nouhou or Cristian Roldan. That being said, it's a bit strange because I don't think any of these guys are Premier League quality never mind United quality. This led me to think that he was in town to check out some of the youngsters in our academy. Wish I could find out more but my friend told me that Alvial didn't say too much, only that he's here to scout some players.

I would've never thought that United have a network scouting out MLS talents. That's a new one for me. We could use some development of American players though...the current ones are not up to standard outside of Pulisic and a small handful of others.

We signed Olosunde from New York Red Bulls last year for the academy.

There's some good coaching in the states, and I'm glad we are paying attention. Even if at times we just splash cash on wannabe galactico types.

The more nets we cast then the more decent fish we catch.

They have scouts in Iceland to watch games that aren't even being played there.

I was at a couple of Dynamo's home games in the summer & the standard of football was woeful. No-one from the first team is gonna play in England top flight, trust me.
But, the Americans have it sussed for pre match entertainment, parking, food stalls, etc.
