Afternoon all what a frustrating game that was
Lloris - 6 I couldn’t see how he did for goal from where I was sitting but it seemed a good finish. Didn’t have much to do otherwise.
Trippier - 4 epitomised why I keep stressing he isn’t good enough to be a starting fullback (especially when Davies is on the other side). Scared to take on the opposing fullback, and never really a threat
Dier - 6.5 reasonable enough, didn’t do too much wrong
Sanchez - 6 poor for the goal but reasonable otherwise
Vertonghen - 6.5 solid, dunno why he came off
Davies - 2 our worst player, bad for the goal, terrible passing, never a threat and some appalling corner taking
Winks - 4 struggled with his touch and didn’t move the ball around well, even the completed passes were 5 yards off
Dele - 6 appalling first 30 but grew into the game after, one of our biggest threats
Eriksen - 4 a rare day off, looks like he needs a rest
Son - 7 our best player and biggest threat. For a lot of the game him attacking the fullback was our only way to crest chances
Kane - 6.5 well taken goal but had a frustrating game with such an absent midfield supplying him, too greedy
Dembele - 7 looked very good off the bench
Lolrente- 2 another sack of sheite performance from someone who is so inept in the air
Poch - 2 got the lineup wrong and substitutions, proper frustrating and too obsessed with five at the back. Going to write another article to sum him up

You two
Pretty sure trippier set up the goal with the cross and you’ve both been ripping him to shreds. Pipe down fellas. It’s exactky what happened you obviously just like to see different things. End of the day the front 4 all weren’t at it, we didn’t create enough to win the game, simples.

Dele Alli set up the goal.
I have to say with the quality of reply it’s not worth wasting my time, I’m guessing you didn’t catch the game.

Yeah don’t waste your time mate cause we obviously saw two different games yesterday. Dele may have set up the goal I am trying to forget the game tbh and obvisouky did quite quickly
Son and Alli are frustrating me because they were so good last season and it’s important they reach them heights for us this season. At least kane keeps scoring even when not at his best.

Face it guys, we haven't been convincing in one home game against weaker opposition yet. Haven't scored more than 1 goal, haven't created a great deal of chances, and performances from key players have been iffy. We can point to the full backs, but is it going to be drastically different whoever we play there? My feeling would be no, as there is some clear collective psychological difference between this season and last playing in these games.
It may well be Wembley. It might even be the CL, and deciding to treat that with more seriousness because of what happened last season. Likelihood is it's both with Wembley playing a bigger factor.
I just hope that should this sort of thing continue throughout the season while we're still doing relatively well i.e. in and around the top 4, people aren't going to get on Poch's back too much about it.

Good post Spurtle
A lot of the time at Wembley our passing and speed of thought has been too slow, especially considering we’ve mainly been up against these crap teams who show no ambition to play any football and are happy to ignore the ball and flood their own penalty box. That’s exactly what they did last season but we played at a higher tempo and got a goal relatively early which fouled their game plan. Aside from Liverpool I think our earliest home goal in the league was Burnley after about 50 mins?
Injuries are part and parcel of football but the reality is that most of our players who’ve performed at their expected levels have been our CB’s.

Poch can only work with what he’s been given. Dembele is never more than about 75% fit while Nkoudou and Llorente are proving to be as useless as I unfortunately expected them to be.

Yeah I agree with most of what you said and the fullbacks is just part of the problem. Playing such a constantly weak (or make shift) midfield is another; also player form and injuries an issue.
