Arsenal 5 v 0 Huddersfield Town

Arsenal v Huddersfield Town

Wednesday 29th November

Kick off 7.45pm

Emirates Stadium

After doing so well against Man City, where I felt we should have had a point, we’re back on the road down to Arsenal. Arsenal fans appear to think they’ll get three points from this game, their complacency is easy to understand with us not winning away since the opening game of the season. In fact we haven’t scored away from home since that game against Palace. That statistic needs to change and fast.

This will be my third visit to the Emirates and have to say it’s a fantastic stadium, plenty of food and drink outlets on the concourse and plenty of leg room in the stands. That’s important to me, nothing worse than having the seat in front cutting into your knees, painful 😖

The big question regarding this game is who will replace VLP, due to his three match ban? I know he has his detractors, my son being one of them, but I like him and think he has a lot to offer. I think his replacement will be Kachunga but agree he hasn’t covered himself with glory so far this season. I’ve seen it suggested that Quaner should be used on the wing to replace VLP but not sure about that at all. If I was the manager I would only make a couple of changes, the one enforced through VLP’s suspension and the other Löwe for Malone. This is not because Malone gave away the penalty on Saturday but simply because I think Löwe is the better defender.

I can’t see Palmer being back for this game and starting to worry at not only how injury prone he is but also the length of time it takes him to recover. When he’s fit he’s a fantastic player but he seems to be injured more than not. I thought Smith did well on Saturday and should keep his place on Wednesday. I don’t know what’s going on with Mounié but he needs to get his act together and start looking interested, fast.

So despite our poor away form I’m going for my usual prediction of 2-1 to us with Williams and Depoitre the scorers. By the law of averages we must be due an away win

One 'classic' of the mindset Walt..

Seconds to half time, We have a free kick just in our own half, (at 1-0 darn don't forget) And Cranie ..it could have been any of 'em.. Couldn't decide what to do with it, he arghzez about, FINALLY deciding to pump it towards their box
And the delivery was way short of putting the defense under any meaningful pressure.

Another time in the 1st half, We had Four men across the edge of the Arsenal penalty area 'Waiting'...
The Ball went from mid way in the Arsenal half, Back to our back line & from there back to Lossl,

Pick which one of these suits your mood :-

All of the above darn

Wagbo and klopp are 2 cocky sods who think they can just attack against quality opposition and leave themselves wide open at the back...liverpool ship 3/4 goals regularly

David Wagner; November 29 - 2017

"It isn't a surprise it is getting difficult in the Premier League, it was difficult from the beginning. I think we can still be satisfied with the position we are in at the moment. To lose against Arsenal as Huddersfield Town away from home, it isn't a surprise.

"We have learnt from our experiences on Sunday and today. We have had two defeats, they probably shouldn't be a surprise to anybody but we learn from these defeats and we are mentally strong enough to put this behind us."

I don’t think December’s threads have been sorted yet.

They haven't, I don't have time today, but I'm more than happy to do a couple this month....

Having watched it a 2nd time,
I'm far more optimistic about tomorrow,
Goals No2 & 4 were both Off-side.
As was Giroud when he hit the post...
That Linesman sold us darn the river Wed night,

At 1-0, The 2nd gets disallowed as it should have, & we have a different game.
I still say we should have made the changes 12 minutes earlier, But that's just me. Our lot were running on empty.

One or two got caught day dreaming, or unable to fathom out what to do, But overall we played some good stuff against one of the top sides at their gaff !

Confidence is the main issue for me.
Wagner & Buhler were urging our defense forward from the touch line on SBS tv. Clearly Wagner wants them to be 'more brave'. Kachunga & Quaner dropped back too deep for me. If they'd stayed right up with the Arsenal full backs, They wouldn't have had the time & space to build from the back like they did,
Mouine, as uninterested as he sometimes seems,
can hardly be blamed for being unable to put any pressure on a three man back line all by himself.
The few times we did actually push up, Arsenal were no different to TOWN or any other team, and weren't all that flash when they had to get rid quickly or had fewer options.

We'll be OK Saturday.

I 'OPE
