Derby County๐Ÿ‘ 0 - 1 Ipswich Town ๐Ÿšœ

1945
Pride Park
28th Nov 2017

Fast on the the totally unexpected win at Smogglesbrough on Saturday, we come to the game with n hand which could really illustrate our intentions. Funny to think that if we had lost on Saturday and won on Tuesday, we would have quite phlegmatic about it. Now we expect no less than a defeat of the Tractor Boys.

Derby have no new injury problems and BJ is expected to sit out again. As is Sam Winnall. Cue, an unchanged side from Saturday. We have a good record against Ipswich, alright, we don't have a dreadful record against Ipswich which leads me to think that confidence could breed over-confidence. We're not there yet, but I am enjoying it.

Last time Big Mick lost as a manager at Derby? 22 years ago as Millwall boss!!!!

Things to discuss:-
# Harry's nuptials
# 4th officials
# Roadworks on the A52
# HS2 and the increased time for journeys between Derby and N@**#ngham?

Team news to follow, wrap up warm

Derby County: Carson, Baird, Keogh (C), Davies, Forsyth; Huddlestone, Ledley; Weimann, Vydra, Lawrence; Nugent

I'm just back and still frozen. I thought we played better than against QPR but without the luck. I think it was a game too much for Nugent and Forsyth, Nugent hasn't played this many games for years, he hardly played for Borough or Leicester and Forsyth is coming back from a serious injury.

I am afraid Thorne is not going to make it, his dive was embarrassing and he just can't run. I'm really sorry cos he was a terrific player till the injuries.

I agree with Griff re Lawrence, he is a lightweight and should have gone off instead of Yman. I never thought I'd say this, but he is a poor man's Ince.

Heb I'm also imbibing with a very large Grouse!

We lost but it was a good game.

Think I might move to the day shift.

VC, derby didn’t play bad tonight. Created enough chances to win the game, just missed that clinical finisher up front but can’t knock Vydra. Vydra didn’t stop running tonight and was unlucky not to score. 4 games in 10 days is a lot for Nugent and Baird so I’d expect Martin and Wisdom to come into the side on Saturday. That’s nothing negative towards Nugent or Baird it’s more use of the squad. Pleased for Weimann and his performances

I agree Griff, I thought we played well and Vydra was terrific. I thought Martin had some good touches but looked a bit rusty, I hope he plays Saturday.

I am worried about the midfield, we need someone to link the play. I predicted we would end up 5th and we are on course. I hope we don't blow up after Christmas.

Well that was another chance blown. I'm fed up with feeling optimistic then having it rammed down my throat. At least it wasn't as bad as Reading. We ran our luck over the last few games relying on some great saves, our luck ran out last night. I think Ipswich had 1 chance and took it, we had several and fluffed them all.

Keogh had a great game last night but his threat from corners is non existent. I had a thought that it might be that he doesn't look where the ball is, he just launches himself somewhere near it. This thought was backed up when the ball hit his standing leg on the penno spot. He couldn't have been watching it all the way. Work on it Keogh.

Interesting angle on finding the reportedly 'superb' Keogh culpable for last night's defeat, Iwas

I thought the 2nd half performance warranted the win. How many times the ball fell to Ipswich in there box was frustrating...near misses...the save from Huddz. It wasn't our night but we move on to Saturday.

He wasn't culpable, I'm only making an observation.

If he was culpable for letting the ball hit his standing leg then Ledley, Vydra and Hudd where more culpable.
