I thought City struggled yesterday to create clear cut chances against a well drilled Westham defence. Obviously creating clear cut chances against teams that place 7-8 defenders in the box is not easy at all.
Of the Top 6 teams, Spurs are the team that struggle the most,Liverpool used to be the next vulnerable, I dont know if Salah has changed this.United never had this problem until Fergie left but Jose has sorted it out with the purchase of Lukaku. Arsenal and Chelsea despite not being brilliant always seem to find a way as they have the patience and individual players to go past the bus.
My question which came up while watching City is, why dont the players mix things up, change the side of attack, force low hard crosses, take shots from outside the box, make the pitch bigger, pass the ball faster???It seems like the most obvious thing but the players always seem to pass the ball slowly to each other hoping for an opening which never comes.

Depends on how the manager wants them to play. I personally think a lot of managers are naïve in this day and age because they are scared to change their system.
Liverpool a good example. Plenty of times last season they struggled to break teams down at home, like United and Southampton. But Klopp didn't change anything but personnel. This is why I think Benteke was a benefit to the club. Have him as an option on the bench, then if it's 0-0 and it's a poor game after 70 minutes, sacrifice a midfielder and ask the team to put more crosses aiming for him in the box. It might not work, but it gives the opposition something else to think about and not expect against a side like Liverpool. That's not becoming as much of a problem this year though.
