So with VAR united wouldnt have won

The game on Saturday. There would be no title race and in the famous words of Clattenburg "United wouldnt have got the opportunity to self destruct"

Jokes aside despite being second best all game I still think united deserved to win but all the debates after the game got me thinking Are we even ready for VAR if we still debate black and white issues like the laws of the game e.g Mane & Pogba's sending off?

The Rumours are the earliest opportunity for the FA to implement VAR is in the 2018 season and If they give it the nod I can only see disaster. The retrospective ban system is already a mess as they kicked it off by letting Watford star Richarlison off.

For those who dont understand the VAR model, There are 4 types of decisions can be reviewed using VAR: goals (and violations in the build-up to them), penalties, red cards and mistaken identity in awarding a card. For a decision made on the pitch to be overturned, it must be a "clear error".

The PGMOL is the problem

It was set up as a closed shop to be free of any outside influences but in reality it's just made it more corrupt than ever as it's entirely unaccountable

The clear error bit baiscally sorts it. If it isn't incredbly blatant they just stick with the original decision

Yeah the red card at the weekened was blatant. Not seen any non-Man United fan saying otherwise. Very dangerous and silly thing to do.

VAR has been terrible at times in leagues that use it (Serie A and Bundesliga being two), while at others it has been efficient and a very good tool for getting the right decision.

The biggest issue is that unlike other sports that use similar, the ref still has final call - rather than take the advice of the person watching the video. So if a decision is advised to be overturned the ref goes and watches it for himself. This is a lengthy process and unnecessary.

Sure Arsenal should have had a red card.

You're right in that we are not ready for VAR, not until rules are clearer.

No official can say if something is deliberate for example, or if a player deliberately goes down to win a foul.

However where tech is useful is the definite decisions. Did the ball cross a line, no more time added on, do it on a stopclock.

Certain rules can easily be made clearer, handball is handball, take deliberate out of the equation.

Saying any handball is a foul would be a joke though

The laws are clear. Most fans just refuse to adapt to the changes in the law
