Wolves v Sunderland Match Preview

Hello again my cyber buddies. Feeling decidedly autumnal here with snow in the Tramuntana mountains providing a very Christmassy backdrop.

Thanks go to Halfy for bringing us 3 points yesterday although the second half performance was decidedly lacklustre. I’m sure Halfy will make an extra effort to improve the performance in the next enthralling Match Day Thread.

Saturday 9th December sees Wolves return to Molineux to host Sunderland.

After defying the odds based on previous November performances, Wolves came through November having won every game. December has also started well with the televised hard fought win at Birmingham on Monday. Now on a winning run of 6 games, Nuno’s men are looking fairly invincible. During that run, up front the ‘Fantastic Foursome’ have tucked away 16 goals between them whilst the defensive unit have also performed well conceding only 2.
Wolves sit at the top of the table 4 points clear of second placed Cardiff, 10 points clear of third placed Bristol City and 15 points clear of 7th place Ipswich.

At the start of the current season few people would have predicted that Sunderland, despite their relegation from the Premiership, would be again involved in a relegation battle before even reaching halfway through the season.
After just 18 games in charge, Simon Grayson was sacked and Chris Coleman appointed to get the Black Cats firing and out of the drop zone.

Ironically, the next time that Sunderland’s on loan striker Lewis Grabban plays at Molineux he could be wearing Old Gold. If rumours are to be believed, Grabban could be a target for Nuno Espirito Santo in January and with a clause in his loan deal allowing parent club Bournemouth to cancel the loan at any time, Chris Coleman may well find himself without his on form striker in the new year.

With a recent win against Burton Albion hopes were raised that Chris Coleman may be turning things around at the Stadium of Light but losing at home to Reading last Saturday dashed those hopes again very quickly.

Currently residing in 23rd place in the league with only 14 points from a possible 60, clearly, Coleman has a lot of work to do and an encounter with high flying Wolves at Molineux probably couldn’t come at a worse time for him. He has hinted that he may give the 18 year old Joel Asoro his first league start on Saturday as he looks at the youth in his squad to try something different to re-energise his dis-spirited side.

When is the Sheffield preview thread getting started. I would suggest early so there's time to get all the hoodlums banned so we can have a sensible discussion

Not Francis Jeffers; should have typed Derek Jefferson. Obviously, the father.

Derek Jefferson, there’s a name from the past. Blind as a bat which is probably his best excuse for all the mistimed challenges he used to make
