Southgate and Wilshere

Will Gareth Southgate just come out and admit what we all know... that he does not like Jack Wilshere. There have been several justifications given for not selecting Jack which immediately don't make sense because of the selection he DOES end up making (one of the most recent being that he can't select someone who isn't selected for their team, though it turns out that Jack has more appearances this season than Drinkwater, who Southgate prefers / chooses).

Now this is a different argument to the club vs country debate or whether Jack should keep himself fit for Arsenal. It's about manager bias without justification. It's about Southgate cutting off his rather formidable nose to spite his face. And I just don't get it.

No, but they're a good indication of how a player is valued by his manager.

So how many games had Drinkwater played when he was selected, going by your "barely" played any games this season...?

Picking Drinkwater does not invalidate the reasoning for not picking Wilshere.

He gave a perfectly logical reason for not picking Wilshere and the claim that it's a bullchit reason is... well... bullchit.

Now, we can discuss Drinkwater separately and I agree on the fact of things, it looks odd.

I cited two reasons he gave for separate games. Drinkwater was one as a direct example in relation to one of those reasons / games so it's not really for discussion separately. It suggests a bias, which was the point of my article, not Wilshere's injury history.

Different players, different roles for the team.

To take one reason for one player and try to apply it across the whole team is ridiculous.

The point is that his reasoning as far as Wilshere logical, not bullchit, as you claimed.

What are the different roles?

Yup.

If you don't realise that Drinkwater and Wilshere are different players, used in different roles for their teams, then we are done.

Have a nice weekend.

This is about England, not Arsenal and Chelsea. And if you don't realise Wilshere plays different positions for club and country, then the cluelessness if yours.

Good night to you too.

They don't play the same role for club or country.

That's what I said, and that's a fact.

You are indeed clueless.
