Both are as boring as feck now, after having them constantly rammed down our throat for the past 10 years. Neither has managed to take their team to world cup glory like true greats, like Pele, Beckenbaeur and Maradonna. Trousering lots of goals in what is basically a two team league is one thing. Leading your country to world cup glory is another.

Edbo, I say it as I see it. Both Ronaldo and Messi have had great careers. But the way everybody goes on, as if they are the only two players on the planet. They have both had stella careers, nobody is disputing that. But so have plenty of other players, they just don`t get the coverage these two do. I am sure Iniesta and Xavi are just as good, and they also have world cup medals as well, but they never got a look in as the worlds best player, when they were pretty well instrumental in everything Barca and Spain did for the best part of a decade. As was perhaps Lahm for Germany and Bayern.

I wish people would stop the Messi/Ronaldo/Rooney debate and just appreciate them as the best players of our generation

I said stop the debate not continue it by picking out your favourite. I agree Rooney is very good but he is on the same level as the other two, maybe only slightly above. There isn't much to separate them. You are entitled to your opinion though.

Messi - Born a genius
Ronaldo - Made himself a genius

Depends on what you value more. Personally, for every possible reason (attitude, natural talent, team player) I'd go for Messi.

Ask yourself this - if they both picked the ball up on the edge of their on box, which one would you bet on to get the furthest? The greatest of all time for me was Maradona, until his equally diminutive compatriot turned up on the scene. Messi - THE greatest ever player!

Messi is better but I have no issue in Ronaldo saying that or believing it. He’s hardly miles off and him believing that he is the best is part of the reason why he got to where he is today.

I don't agree, but it hardly makes him arrogant thinking that.

Messi is the best for me.

For me its always been Ronaldo trying to get to Messi's level. Ive never heard anyone say Messi is trying to get to Ronaldo's level.

People have been saying it about Messi in the CL the last few years, to be fair.

I'd rather have Messi on my team than Ronaldo.

But how about having them both on the same team?
Would they get along?

CR is more effective in terms of scoring, he is lethal in front of game but all round game Messi is better. CR has every right to be arrogant, he has won nearly everything
