Poch on our transfer business

Really interesting read this. He gets almost critical of how we leave it so late. You never hear him moaning usually.

Also suggests we won’t be buying any foreign players in jan so that will rule out 90% of transfer rumours.

He’s right. We should be laying the groundwork for who we need to buy in the summer from Jan onwards. By that I mean scouting and early negotiating. Not as if nobody taps up players nowadays so we should be gauging interest of the player well in advance of the summer.

Don’t think he’s saying anything too bad tbh

Makes sense to get players in early and integrate them into the squad and get their fitness levels up.

No foreign players in jan so maybe zaha Berkeley or Sessegnon?

Strange, he never complained about it when we were winning.

Poch is like all managers, lose a few, and they start making excuses. Mourinho will go in to complete meltdown if he loses a couple, all and sundry will get blamed, he will be refusing interviews and walking out of news conferences, etc.

Levy frustrating the manager ? That never happens usually does it

Previously Poch has had no reason to complain as we had been very consistent. But this season the long injury list has stretched our squad, it sounds like he is getting frustrated at Last Minute Levy`s faffing around in the transfer market, trying to save a million here and there. Sometimes it is better to pay an extra million or two and get players in early and integrated.

Hard to criticize Levy too much though, overall he does a brilliant job and it is a miracle we compete at the top end of the PL whilst having a zero net spend every window.

This is where we are at what with a new stadium to finance, hopefully in the coming seasons we start to see a more clinical approach with regard to transfer business.

English players?

Barkley, Sessegnon and Zaha (pretty sure he counts as homegrown even though he plays for Ivory Coast), would be splendid

Saving a million or two here and there over the last 17 years has helped build us a new stadium and secured our future.
