The dust settles

It took a while to get out of the ground yesterday, but the delay allowed the opportunity to watch the Everton supporters show how much they appreciated their team's efforts. And quite right too, they avoided defeat, although you could be forgiven for thinking they'd won the PL, CL, FA and whatever-named cup all together and at the same time such was the relief they obviously felt.

Despair for me has turned into reality. Clearly, our manager was raging at the refs decision but, with Chelsea and United being beaten, with Arsenal managing a very late draw, and with 22 more games left, it isn't the end of the world, everything is still left to play for.

I watched Dominic and Alex O-C in particular, but on reflection neither had the impact I hoped they would have. It's easy to criticise the boss (just seen him hand the BBC African Player of the Year award to Mohammed S, a fantastic achievement, so it's not all doom and gloom people) for making the team selection that he did, but for me he is still headed in the right direction.

Add to that that Porto are our opponents in the next round of the CL, and it's not yet exactly the end of the world.

Bring on Wednesday night.

Jimmy you always allow for everyone’s opinion without slating people and you often talk sense.

I thought Ox, and Solanke offered nothing. Henderson is not good enough in every area, Lovren is a huge liability and the officials are cr@p every single week.

Our best side would of smashed Everton yesterday.

How does Klopp know that Couts, Bobby, Wiji etc won’t pick up a knock - play the strongest line up possible every game. His reaction in his interviews for me showed us that he knew he fcked up.

=======================

I don't even get what that means in relation to rotation.

What he will have is sports science reports that will assess likelyhood of things like muscular injury or exacerbation of strains. You'll notice we got a lot of those last season and also players like Can have said if he completes too many sprints he breaks down.

We look fresh as a team and the injuries are clearing up. We're in decent shape all round.

17 points from 21, 4th and topped our CL group. Seems quite good to me.

But you seem quite sure, so that's that compared to Klopp.

VJ, Solanke and O-C's ineffectiveness were due in part to Everton's efforts to suppress them, and, full marks to them, they did that job. That having been said, that was the poorest Everton team I've seen in many a long while, which makes the result harder to take.

I've since seen The boss' interview on Sky. Frustrated beyond belief, but with in reality what or who he was frustrated with is not clear. At least he had the decency to apologies to the Sky reporter which was warranted.

Everton didn’t stop us or play well please everyone take note, we played people who can’t score or create like Hendo, Ox, Solanke instead of some of Europe’s best players

My point about how does Klopp know that he’ll be able to pick the Fab Four midweek or for the CL games, he doesn’t as one is nearly always injured or suspended ... so cease the fck moment and play them when they’re available against our bitter neighbours

No one has said Everton played well, but they did put ten men behind the ball. It doesn’t matter how poor a team is, they’re still difficult to break down with that set up.

You were very vocal about how poor Everton were all through the match, so why you think we needed our strongest 11 is slightly baffling. Your opinion that we should basically just play our best players until they get injured is ridiculous, and just shows how little you know about football in general.

why people think we should be smashing these teams 4-5 nil every game like its our right and its easy, no team in the league do it City have scraped by in a few games for example already this year and only 16 games in.

and ill remind you their starting 11 and squad costs are 3x 4x that of ours.

We didn’t play great on Sunday but we were a bit unlucky.

If Mane squares it we win the game.

Pundits are a joke. Phil Thompson on sky yesterday saying Klopp got his selection wrong and didn’t respect the Derby. Then next sentence he says if Mane squares it we would have won.

Those two things don’t add up at all. These talking heads are just paid to talk balls, they constantly contradict themselves and their judgements are based purely on results, irrespective of how those results happened.

Generally our season is going where we should expect to be. In the top 4 race, won a tricky but surmountable CL Group. Only real disappointment was the early League cup exit after we battered Leicester in the first half.

Everything else is noise.

I read something about those comments by Thommo - and for me, he's completely wrong. It's him that doesn't understand the game anymore, not that Klopp doesn't respect the Derby. A game against a poor side, why the hell would you feel the need to use your strongest line-up, with such a long season still to play? It's not 1980 anymore, with a squad of 13 players to choose from.
