Legend Stones

Following on from the Bremner Square announcement, Leeds United can now reveal that as part of the redevelopment we will be creating space for 10 legend stones in the area around our famous statue. Each stone will be engraved with the legends keys stats and achievements during his career with Leeds United.

We are now asking supporters to tell us which former Whites players should form Bremner’s 11 and deserve a place around the great mans statue.

Which 3 deserve a stone?

I never saw either John Charles or Bobby Collins. but it is on record how adept at either Centre forward or Centre half Charles was. Apparently, Leeds tactics were to start him up front to score and then pull him back to Centre half to shut the opposition out with great effect. Collins was the lynchpin in Leeds getting going under Revie. I worshipped the players on the list that were part of Revie's team and have seen at first hand what we've had since. Anybody that wants to compare/choose any of Revie's team to those on the list is too young to remember the quality and their contribution. We had world class players in Revie's era. Seriously, how many since? Sorry, can't think of one that's either done owt or won owt to justify that tag.

LIW, Big John before my time so missed him out as I did Bobby Collins who's just before my time but helped shape the club,
Big Jack speaks for himself, Giles was my favourite player and the last spot was between the four you mentioned and just gave Eddie the nod,
Very hard to choose three only and can understand people who didn't see Dons team going for players they saw play,

LIW, your the one that comes on these boards and says "Bullocks" to others for saying what they think!..

"Beckford ABSOLUTELY! Problem is there are a lot of older Leeds fans who cannot see past the 70s (through no fault of their own)."

The same as today there are more that didn't see the team of the 70's, so, those that did are saying that there has been no better than that team, and me seeing that team and seeing up till now, I agree with those from the 70's!..

A legend to me is someone that gives everything for the team/club, the one that wore the badge on his heart, those days are long gone and the youngsters know nothing about that sort of player!..

I had Lorimer, Currie and Yeboah on my profile once upon a time, Lorimer my all time favorite I'd put in there, Currie, a brilliant player and I'd say for Leeds comes into the legend mode, Yeboah one of the best at his time in Europe/world, a class player but not long enough with us!..

So, introducing the cat to the pigeon!..

Smith, one who gave all to Leeds United on and off the pitch, he for me gave more to Leeds United than most players on that list!..

And stuff the ManU fans that didn't like Strachan coming to Leeds!..

I think you should take a look at what you say and think on, to others you talk just as much "Bullocks"!..

Smith did this club a big justice when he went/was forced out, whatcrappingever!..

People, don't worry about me saying things the way I do, I couldn't give a flying toss what anyone thinks about me and what I say, I've followed this club since I was 5/6 yrs old, and I'm now 59!..

Respect Smithy, and thanks for the little you did for this club, a hell off a lot more than any other at that time that took all they had coming!..

Stuff this board, I'm out off here!..

Enjoy yourselves, but think on, some people do things when they have to to help others, a shame people don't see them for what they really are!..

A reason I wrote "And stuff the ManU fans that didn't like Strachan coming to Leeds!.."

How many times do I have to tell you

He wasn’t forced out, he said he was too good for the championship and would leave.

Which was the right thing for him.

Nobody mentioning Strachan? The man was the catalyst for us getting promoted under Wilkinson. He was the starting point after which it all fell in to place.

Given what some people said when he joined ( ex sc*m, etc) would anyone now deny the role he played?

Eddie gray - one of our greatest players who managed us twice.

Norman hunter - too young to ever see him play but I grew up listening to him on radio and quite frankly he is by far the best radio commentator we have ever had, used to live listening to him

Gordon Strachan - personal choice, loved him as a player

Question:

Does the 11 have to represent a team formation, or is it just the number and there can be multiple goalkeepers, for example?
