Christmas day 1914 in the trenches

Count ur blessings JA peoples no matter where u r.

Lets hope it never gets this bad again although for just 1/2 days in this most horrendous of world wars just for a short time these young soldiers put their orders aside and celebrated Christmas with their enemies

Stories say they even kicked a ball around together

god bless them all on both sides for the hell they must have endured.

link below however i'm not sure of its accuracy in regards to history.

Have a merry Christmas all

There is a lot of myth surrounding the 1914 game. It actually took place in a field near Ploegsteert (Plug Street ) in Belgium and was basically a kick about as someone has said. The field is marked by the Khaki Chums Cross. A new memorial to this has been constructed in the same road near to Prowse Point Cemetery but in my view it's a bit WW1 theme park.
The one definate true story is that of Capt Neville on day one of the Somme, who gave each of his platoons a football to kick across no man's land with the offer of a prize for the first to land in German trenches. One of these balls was recovered and is in the Army Museum

It's a strange world. The allied forces fought fascism and brutality in one world while inflicting and protecting slavery, colonisation, apartheid, brutality etc and siphoning of people and resources in another world, carelessly forming in their wake new countries and territories.

And so it begun. A cradle to the grave in some cases. Most of these countries were a ticking time bomb because the invading powers considered only their own interests when drawing up borders etc. This carelessness has been the biggest ever travesty, leading to wars, extreme poverty and a whole bouquet of endless sheet.

Throughout our known history, one man's saviour has always been another man's grim reaper.

The allies/america/europe have committed the worst attrocities in human history, particularly slavery and colonialism however they will never accept or recognise how evil they were. But will continue to act as world police to the middle east/africa etc

Well yes obviously Alavert was a very bad thing, however Arabic slavery and colonisation of North Africa and the near east pre dated European expansion by 800 years

typical european response of justifying their wrongs by comparing with something else. what next, "Africans were already enslaving themselves and selling to the Europeans"?

I acknowledged that slavery was a very bad thing. How am I justifying anything you utter cretin ?

Just addressing your stupid implication that slavery and subjugation originated in Europe
