Forest V Sunderland Match Thread

It's my fault, after all I confidently stated that we would win and every time I do that.......we get hammered.

Next up is a Sunderland side that have only won three games all season and had until recently set a record for the number of games without a win at home, in either the Prem' or the Championship. They have drawn nearly as many games as they have lost and have conceded one more goal than Forest, while only scoring 28 at the other end.

They partially turned that around with their first win under Chris Colman with a 0-2 win at Burton Albion.

'Sunderland scored two late goals to beat Burton and give Chris Coleman his first win as Black Cats manager.

James Vaughan opened the scoring with a header in the 85th minute from Bryan Oviedo's cross before George Honeyman's finish sealed the points.

Brewers goalkeeper Stephen Bywater had earlier denied Lewis Grabban with a fine save.

Burton's best chance fell to Marvin Sordell in the first half but he fired wide and they slip to 23rd.

Sunderland, who won for the first time since 13 August, moved off the bottom of the Championship table with victory.'

Chris Colman is a quality manager with an excellent track record and a impressive acquisition by the Sunderland Board.

Coleman went from captaining the Fulham side to managing it before spells in charge at Real Sociedad and Coventry City, a short spell in Greece with AEL before a successful six-year spell in charge of Wales, leading his country to the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

Over the last five games Sunderland have secured five points to our four.

Saturday will be a tough test for both managers in terms of tactics, motivation and instilling confidence in the players.

So fingers crossed.

Agent Shackell that is.

Passing football will win games. The trick is to pass the ball to someone in the opponents penalty area. On Monday I suggest some of our midfielders make an effort to get in there.

Better still play two strikers and tell them to push up against the opposition back line

That is the thing with one up front. You have to have some hard running midfielders who’ll break their backs to get up and support Murphy. He won plenty of the ball in first half but rarely had anyone within 10 yards to support him. Dowell had his moments but he is still learning the game. As a crazy experiment, why jot try Carayol in the No. 10 role at Leeds? He could prove tricky in the advanced areas as opposed to out wide where he is more easily contained. Dowell looked jaded in the second half today.

Could be. Maybe we will let you have Shackell to steady the defence a bit.

I actually think it isn’t centre back wheteForest are struggling. It is more midfield tracking runners.

Just heard a little rumour Will. Might not be anything in it. Certainly Derby are looking to offload him.

So no different to Al Hasawi then after all. Despite all the seven page statements about wanting to build the club up. Congratulations. You’ll not be seeing me down the CG anytime soon. Football has gone.
