Ipswich Town 1 - 2 Derby County

Portman Road
1500
30 Dec 2017

Busy, busy, busy.....

Saturday sees the final match of 2017, the end of the calendar year, which normally prefixes our annual bad run/wobble/collapse/infuriating no reason for play 5hit period.....

Its been a funny old year for us and after taking youngest born to the final game of last season against Rotherham, I held out little optimism for this season and resigned myself to a period of 'rebuilding'.

Well, its gone OK I suppose and I'm enjoying it far more than I anticipated. Win tomorrow and that's another statement of intent (how many statements of intent can you have in a season?).

Big question is whether Chris Martin will be involved - if not, then its time to say goodbye. BJ is a doubt but Tom Lawrence seems to have shaken off his little niggle and should play.

Richard Keogh is a doubt...........no he's not, only joking. Captain er... mmm....erm....Fantastic IS going to play and what an inspiration he is to us all especially the youngsters. Do you think that Keogh's excellentness is related to having other 'leaders' on the pitch like Huddz, Ledley, Davies and Carson ?

Do not mix this pure match thread up with the JA606DCFCPOtY Hustings below however maybe.........just maybe......this might be your chance to make a late surge and annihilate the chances of fellow posters who thought you were their friend.......

Things to discuss:-
# VVD's £75m transfer to Liverpool.....
# .....Compared to Craig Forsyth's new contract
# NewYears Eve, stay in or stay out?
# Steve and Tracy 5hagging again on Coronation Street

Team news:-
Carson
Wisdom
Keogh (C)
Davies
Forsyth
Huddlestone
Thorne
Russell
Vydra
Lawrence
Winnall

Substitutes: Mitchell, Martin, Baird, Pearce, Weimann, Nugent, Olsson

Anyway, I'm off for my pre Hogmanay party spray- tan........

I agree with both above posts! But I reckon Warburton would have done well at Forest if given time, so it's a good job he's gone.

If they go for young Nige I hope they realise it takes him 5 years to turn things round.

I hope Warburton gets another job and does well. I'll never forget what a good team Brentford were when they thrashed us with Pritchard doing very well. Would he look good with an owl on his track suit?

How is your weather, Heb?

Cat Typing with my one dry finger. It gets everywhere! Weather cold and damp, snow on hills but Storm Dylan is further south.

A really happy and healthy New Year to you and yours.....

Not entirely sure that we are really in a position to criticise managerial sackings 3R

Heb! A really happy New Year to you and yours and the hounds.

The difference between us and Forest re sackings is that they packed MW when he was not the problem. For us there was no doubt the problem was with Pearson and McClaren.

Think the problem was our transfer signings and expecting results because of money spent not quality brought.

I actually agree with the MW sacking, Forest were in free fall and I think MW was playing the game according to principles not the players that he had. GR found him out and others followed suit. I think the question for Forest is does their owner actually care or have any money to spend. If not the man they call Non League Nigel or Agent Clough might be their only hope. Ironic really when we think back to the abuse they gave him under their saviour Billy Davies.

I think the problem with Forest is their fans, they always blame a managers failings on their club being too big for him. Living in the past often blinds you to the present. If they could accept that they’re a league one club that picked up the winning football lottery ticket when it fell out of Derby County’s back pocket. I think it would get easier for them. Sell their ground share with Notts County and invest in a mid table team from league one that occasionally makes the play offs.

Griff you are right. My memory seems to have gone as the game I'm thinking about was when they thrashed us 1 - 1. It was the game where Keogh played right back and Forsyth centre half with Albentossa.

Pritchard played well though and I'd rather sign him in January than Marshall.

Yes I would love to see Loony in charge down the road.

Happy New Year to all of you and the Superrams.
