Morata issue a 'confidence' thing IMO.

At least in situations where the chance is falling to his feet and not his head.

Long term I have no fears about this. I think the goals will come, but to me it is playing on his mind that over the course of the season, he even before last night, for lack of his own finishing or on occasions excellent goalkeeping or defending he’s not got a good record for goals with his feet this season.

It has imo become a vicious circle, but as I’ve already implied, I do think he’ll come out of it.

I still feel we’ve spent well on this player.

But again, I really feel I should avoid Twitter on match nights, because the fans turned on him on that platform last night and were using the “Costa would’ve…………" line.

I understand it could be heat of moment. I get that Costa may have made a positive difference, but I also believe that Costa had to go. For both the club and the player’s sake.

Yeah true. There was a time when Torres was actually good at finishing. To compare him to a carthorse is harsh.

You have Lukaku and Rashford so are in no position to lecture us on poor strikers.

I think the comparisons to Torres are really harsh - everything else about his game has been really promising, 4-5 poor misses in the last 2 games have started people to already question his ability, which I think is absurd.

Clearly a talented player, lacking confidence and still finding his feet in the league.

His finishing has been rubbish pretty much the whole of this season. Before the Stoke game it was already a big issue. Even the Man U game, where he was good, he wasted 2 easy chances. It's just that the last two matches he's had a lot more chances to miss.

The game where he scored a hat trick seems to be the exepction rather than the norm in terms of his shooting ability.

I love Morata. I know his finishing was awful yesterday, but it is entirely about confidence. He is a great player, with great touch, and he'll start scoring again soon. He's still really young, and this is his first year in England, and he's still getting used to the physical nature of the league. We've had some really terrible strikers at Chelsea over the past 10-15 years (Kezman, Shevchenko, Torres, even Drogba on his return), but I am confident that Morata is not in that category. He'll be a star and prove everyone wrong - personally I'm delighted he's at Chelsea.

Rashford is 19, played on the wing the entire seasons and still nearly has the same amount as morata.

Lukaku has more. so whlst being chit, is still better.

I don't care if he's 19, he isn't good enough and has Welbeck/Oscar mark 2 written all over him.

I don't care if Lukaku has scored more, based on goal record alone many average Joe's would be better than Bergkamp and Drogba.

By your logic above everyone who had a better goal record was. Oh and as for Rashford being close to Morata, the Spaniards 4 goals behind already having played 44 games less

Morattas whole career goals total is an embarassment.

Then what does that say for Rashford considering he's so close to overhauling him in the league with 44 games to spare
