Andy Carroll
Sorry but as I said last season before this ever became a rumour. If we paid a maximum of 20m I’d happily have Carroll as a bench player.
Pause for the “stifling the youth" comments.
I just think he’d add something different and would be a handy last 20 minute forward when we needed to punt the ball up the pitch and hope for the best.
I'm that Chelsea Fan that would welcome....

I couldn't agree more, Flash. I think he would be a good addition to the squad. I feel the same way about England too - I hope Southgate takes him to Russia in the Summer. He is incredible in the air - he would terrorize any defence from free kicks or corners, or just crosses. He is limited in other areas of the game, of course, but would surely offer something different to the other strikers we have.
The rumour, however, does sound a bit crazy. I read that Chelsea are considering a loan deal for him - which doesn't seem to make any sense for West Ham. His biggest issue seems to be his fitness, so bringing him in on loan would be great for Chelsea without taking a big risk on him long term. But I just can't believe WH would do something like that.

Don't take this the wrong way Flash but this is Robb/got_better level of trying to convince yourself

He can't stay fit for long Flash but if not starting every game he could get a run of fitness but it's a high risk signing for this reason alone.
He's got plenty to his game when he's on it, he can come deep and take the ball to feet and allow people run beyond him, and his left foot has serious power.
I always liked him at Liverpool and felt we should have kept him for another season but ultimately he's not mobile enough to play for a Klopp or Rodgers type manager.

James Hanson is available from Sheffield Utd.
He would do what you want Carroll to do, and probably cost about £200k.

He’s probably about their highest paid player, so they might want him off the wage bill.

OK - that makes sense. However, I saw how useless Little Pea was as a main striker against Spurs, so I can't believe WH would agree to lose Carroll.
