DPL - FA Cup 3 Rochdale

The Rochdale camp place a good deal of store by their two victories over us in the EFL cup and the league, one not even a win, but a penalty contest and the other entirely achieved in added time. So marginal superiority at best.

Against this stands our recent win when they have determined that they failed “to turn up". Does it follow that they did not "turn up" for the first 90 minutes of the League game?

Modern culture abounds with excuses for failure.

At least all we apparently lack is concentration, as presumably did Peterborough at the death last Saturday.

Will we win then? Surely, in Rochdale’s position, their priority will be the League.

Nevertheless, I do not think that there is all that much between us and them, at least until we can rely on consistent better organisation.

Whiteman’s leaving will make a difference on the goal-scoring front, although would he be rated just average in the midfield?

Copps will be fit again and DF sort of implies that he may not line up quite the team he would for a regular league match.

We shall see.

So I’ll go for a nervy 1-0, Blair scoring and 7500 present.

Are we all happy with Whiteman

I haven't seen enough of him to be sure, but earlier in the season I did say that we missed the goals from the midfield compared with the SOD era. Since then Rowe and Whiteman have both scored quite a few. His contribution to defensive and link-up play is what I'm uncertain of.

Don .when he played in the Houghton role he was tremendous it was only 1 game but he was really good

I wonder what frequent attenders, BVZ, Albi, Hound, Azza and long-distance viewers like Micky think?

McCollough and Kiwomya are close to returning too it seems.

Don

I think it's a fantastic big of business by Fergie and the board and sends out a message we are here to compete. As mentioned with the return of McCullough and Kiwomya imminent a good second half to the season is on the cards

Don .always liked mcullock once again a player who has on over the boo boys since DF finally found his best position although it was obvious to some of us..
However his injury problems are also obvious so i fear he may b at the last chance saloon

I agree with Lanza about the game when Whiteman was more in the Houghton role, but I prefer him in a more attacking role as he has a habit of scoring! However then I'm not sure he is giving enough to the defence.

Yes, agreed with azza, a good signing, especially on the length of contract.
I don’t know what Bens best position is to be honest.
Lanza and myself said the same thing, about him playing really well in the holding role but as has been noted, further up the pitch he has been getting goals.
However it is a nice problem to have.
McCullough coming back soon is also good news but I don’t know if he will be able to break into the team.
Anyone know when his contract expires because I don’t think he will want to hang around if he isn’t gettin* a regular game when fit.
Will Houghton still be here next season, maybe, maybe not but if no is the answer then Luke is a shoe in for that DM place next season.
Kiwomya?
Not seen him play so can’t comment on him but hopefully he is as good as we are being told, apparently he slaughtered Blair in a 100 mtr sprint in pre season so he is quick.
I am hoping that we can get to 50 points as soon as possible to give us chance to prepare for a better season next time around.

Some may feel that deleting one's own comment (above) is the ultimate proof that even I think it is rubbish. However it was the Plymouth DPL result which I put on the wrong thread.

All I need to say here is that no one scored any points on the Rochdale FAC 3 result.
