any danger

of buying someone to cover alonso at LWB?

i think this is a more pressing matter for us for the rest of the season although i dont want us to spend 30m on another dud

with Barkley coming in, unfit it will be weeks before we see him in action but i actually think he should be ahead over Baka and drinkwater who are just woeful

Barkley actually fits nice in a 352

Fab Kante Barkley in the centre of midfield does givr us a good balance defensively and creatively

Id also like to see Dujon Sterling come in, and maybe even try and convert him into a lwb if we cannoth find a suitable player in that position, players like sandro etc are pipe dreams again reserverd for united and city and clubs who are not, as conte put it, working on austertity programmes which its clear we are.

Going forward we need to ship out the dead wood, players id like to see go in the summer and replaced with young players from our academy are

Bakayoko ( cant even control a football, what scout saw him and thought hed be good ill never know )
Drinkwater, just not a player we needed, a complete joke of a signing
Bats - worst ever striker

All the above can be upgraded with academy players RLC, in particular, is worth two of them,

We are at a crossroads and the head is moving against the tail. we have a terrific base of players we just need to stop buying chit squad players for big money, only zapacosta has worked out and in morata it seems as thought we have bought a very talented but mentally weak player.

One guy we could try if we're concerned with taking punts on English players to get the homegrown quota up is Sessengon from Fulham. Was mentioned to me on here the other day and it's quite a good shout.

Very young and still raw, but looks very promising + comfortable at LB & LW so long term LWB looks like his natural position. Would be in 30-40 million territory, and would strictly be back up to Alonso but he'd give us the flexibility to continue pursuing Sandro if he ever resurfaces at good value - just loan Sessengon out to a PL club next year if that's what happened.

We'd need to act quickly on him though, if we don't take that punt one of the other top 6 will very soon.

I was thinking about that the other day - great minds DAA!

Bats - worst ever striker

==============

clearly too young to remember sutton.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Kerman
Torres
Alan Mayes
Kevin wilson
Fleck
Cascarino
Hartford
Davies
Hartford
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Casraghi.

But sutton was the worst of the lot.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, those 8 one on ones he missed v Sunderland on opening day of the season were not good.

Worse than Torres maybe!

Please Morata, don't become Sutton II.

But as WW said: Trevor Aylott!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Casiraghi could've been very good if he hadn't got crocked
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think we would have won the league that year had he not.

you'll find there are a few clubs looking at him...

The Barkley signing is growing on me. He's English, Dynamic, 24 and a cheap fee to go with it.

Im all for the club signing more English players.. Cahill, Drinkwater and Barkley are solid players.

If we can tie Hazard and Courtois down to new long term contracts it'll be the best piece of business we have done this season... Just hope we can sign some quality players to push us on.

Yeah me too. After my initial 'WTF are we doing' reaction, for 15mil at worst it'll go down as a pointless signing (which we make lot of so blah).

I look forward to seeing the player we were told was England's next shining light five years ago

Agree. I think he is good enough to be included in our first team, but I can’t see this happening, so he’ll probably go to a Prem club where he will be part of their first team.

I was pretty excited about his signing at the time - didn't realise Watford saw us coming!

He was actually decent for Rangers tbf.

That sitter he missed in Zaragoza 94! Cost me £700 to go to Spain to see that miss

I remember listening to that game travelling across the Lake district on the M6 from the Submarine Base at Faslane in Scotland down to Pompey!

I think Gus played against us in that game didn't he?
