With the disappointing draw against Swansea in the FA Cup already a fading memory, Wolves return to league action on Saturday 13th January when they travel to Yorkshire to take on Barnsley.
By now everyone is aware of the Championship’s high flyers and the fact that they are 12 points clear at the top of the table. With one hand already on the Championship league trophy it would be easy at this stage of the season for the players to start becoming complacent, to start thinking of the celebrations at the end of the season and playing in the Premiership. However, nothing in football is certain and fortunately, in Nuno Espirito Santo, the players have a Head Coach to keep them grounded and demand their concentration for each of the games to come.
Barnsley under Head Coach Paul Hecklingbottom are in 19th place in the league with 26 points, just 2 points above the drop zone.
The Tykes started 2018 on a positive note, beating fellow strugglers Sunderland 1-0 at The Stadium of Light, their first win in 11 league games. However, just 5 days later they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Millwall, losing the game 4-1 after being reduced to 10 men for the final 40 minutes.
As always, Nuno will be affording the opposition respect but nevertheless will be disappointed to come away from Oakwell with anything less than 3 points.

No sign of Jota, Boly, Bonatini or Vinagre getting permanent contracts. Don't think it will happen in this window. My guess is that they won't be offered contracts until it is mathematically impossible for us not to be promoted, principally because I don't think Jota or Boly will sign one until then.

once we're up the power balance between the club and the players changes in the clubs favour. the current unsigned players know that fosun are capable of buying 6 or even more £30 mill players if they want to.
jota, boly and bonatini's best bargaining position is now, before we're definitely up.

A stoppage-time penalty by Tyrese Campbell earned Stoke City a 1-1 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers in Division 2.
Wolves led through Pedro Goncalves’s superb goal on 66 minutes and struck the Stoke crossbar three times.
But after some late Stoke pressure, a handball by Cameron John in the second minute of stoppage time handed the Potters a chance to end a four-match losing streak and Campbell duly took it.
Wolves remain five points behind the play-off places, while Stoke are second bottom with 10 points.
