Tottenham Hotspur have announced that legendary former manager Bill Nicholson's legacy will live on at their new stadium after his ashes were moved across the site and interred beneath where the new pitch will lie.
Nicholson, the most successful manager in the club's history, won cups galore including that famous first ever double in 1961 as Spurs marched to the league title and won the FA Cup. He had won the league as a player in 1951 in Arthur Rowe's famous 'push and run' side.
Nicholson died on October 23, 2004 and his ashes – plus those of his wife Darkie – were buried under the White Hart Lane pitch to stay within the club he helped build to what it is today.
When work began on the new stadium, those ashes - with his family’s blessing – were moved temporarily to a place overlooking the site as the demolition of the old stadium began.
Now the club have announced that both Bill and his wife's caskets have been re-interred at a location below where the new pitch will overlap the old, preceded by a private ceremony attended by the family.
Well Done Spurs

Mr Tottenham, simple as that.
And good to hear Sir Bill will be at WHL forever, where he belongs.

Unfortunately Sandy that is extremely unlikely. DL will be looking for a very tidy sum for the naming rights. No reason as Cockles has suggested that part of the ground should bear his name
