How?!
What a shambles the welsh are. He's a legend but no way he should get that job surely?

I'm pleased for the guy, he's been waiting for 18 months for his big break and now he's got it. Let's see what he's all about and if he's made of this managerial lark, if successful then he can launch himself in the PL. Best of luck Giggsy.

I know punditry and management are not the same thing but he comes across as incredibly dull and charisma-less on TV. No idea how he's going to be able to rouse and motivate his players.

Management and being a pundit aren't even the same thing. Also some people are not used to some situations, doesn't mean they won't excel in another.
Saying that though, I don't really see what people who cite Giggsy lack of managerial experience as a downside. Hughes was still a player when he was appointed as Wales manager I believe. Gary Speed had no experience. Their other choice of Greg Bellamy (also no angel) has how much experience? At least Giggsy has coached and been an assistant manager. Coleman was a failed club manager and not doing great at Sunderland (but that's more the club than him).

Van Basten started out in the Holland job after one season coaching a youth team

Tbh most International football is of a poorer standard than league stuff these days so it’s likely a better starting point for him than in the premier league.

Also, quite a few managers excel at managing international sides but don't do so well with club management

What's Giggs going to do when players start dropping out of international squads with injury, and then playing for their clubs a few days later ?
He'll pretty much be powerless to do or say anything to them or their managers.

Genuine question
Giggsy and bale seem to suffer from similar injuries, hanmy related. Not same obviously
Giggsy by not going to wales matches played at the top level until his mid/late thirties
Bale is always injured
Wouldn't you skip wales to prolong your career at a top club?
