'Contract Rebels'

Is this the way football is going for clubs outside the top 3?

I know Arsenal are currently by far the worse for letting this happen, but LFC have Can at the moment, and Spurs have Alderweireld, both good players who their clubs don't want to see leave.

Is it down to their fees being so high? They want more wages?
They know what they are worth? Agents?

What do you think?

must have the last word or the strangers will think my feelings were hurt

If I were you I wouldn’t worry about it, Vicks.
Shouldn’t think anybody’s bothered.

There we go... anything else to add Wessie?

No, that’ll do for now, Vicks.
You seem a lot calmer, my work is done

OP, why not just write top 5 into the article and have a proper discussion, ffs?

Because one of the points i was making, is that besides Man C, Chelsea and Man U, all the other clubs have potential 'contract rebels' at their club.
Everyone understood that until a Liverpool fan came in and made it into a d&*k swinging contest

Are Man U not potentially looking at something similar with Mata?

Looking at this from a players point of view and taking Sanchez as an example.. Imagine if he had signed an extension 2 years ago but wanted out now. What would you expect his transfer value to be? Only 2 or 3 clubs in the world would be able to pay the required amount and one of those is the club who sold him. He'd have been stuck with us, potentially sulking his way through 3/4 years on a contract and sacrificing the peak part of his career.

I didn't know about that to be honest.

Of course they are. The only difference is that they will pay their player enough to make up for the lack of success.

Or they'll just get rid, it's not like he's their main man or anything.

Yes. Thats the reverse affect of huge wages.

If you think that Mata is not worth £130k a week for 5 years, thats £33.8m, because he will have no transfer fee after 5 years or that no one else is going to pay those type of wages at any time during the 5 year period then why would you offer him a new contract? In fact no one will.

This is why Arsenal are not bothered about Wilshere running down his contract. Transfer fees are likely to disappear soon. Very much like Baseball.

As mentioned in my first post, I think that players running contracts down is going to become more and more common even at the bigger clubs.
