Sanchez predictions

Now that it's official, how do we all see the rest of the season playing out?...

Vote 5* - Sanchez slots into Mata's free role at inside right. Settles quickly, wins rave reviews from Jose on his focus and work rate, and bags somewhere around 20 goals and assists in all comps before the end of the season.

Vote 4* - Sanchez slots into Mata's free role at inside right. Guiseley We Win laments the demise of Anthony Martial, who will never play for United again and should leave immediately for Barcelona or City. Martial continues to play every week. Marine We Win blames the signing of Sanchez for Martial's failure to win the Ballon d'Or.

Vote 3* - Following his remarkable predictions on the Sanchez saga, the incredible prescient powers of Nostraduncus are heard about at Paddy Power. 'Duncus is signed up accordingly and becomes the next in a long line of revered celebrity savants to predict this summer's international results. After failing miserably to predict England's opening 5-0 mauling by Tunisia, 'Duncus is tossed in the garbage by the bookies, the media and the public like the rotten, jellified carcass of Paul the Octopus.

Vote 2* - Sanchez slots into Mata's free role at inside right. Failing to score in his first three appearances - games which United dominate but fail to win - select United JA606 posters complete a 180 degree U-turn, brand the player a 'nonse wasteman', as 'dross' and as 'garbage' and demand Mourinho's head.

Vote 1* - Sanchez slots into Mata's free role at inside right. Entirely regardless of the nature and quality of his performances, Arsenal fans claim they weren't bothered about him leaving as the player is 'on the decline', Liverpool fans continue to watch every minute of every United game whilst claiming doing so is so boring their hearts might actually stop, and Chelsea fans post an average of 50 posts a day on the United board laughing at the fact that Jose is playing Sanchez at left-back/in defensive midfield/in goal. Nickasaurus claims Sanchez is a "below average PL forward".

Think he would have been great as he is a great player, we'd have used him as an alternative for Aguero more and I do get the logic of not getting into a bidding war for him. I think your need was greater.

We could really do with cover for fernandinho more, which I'm not sure we'll get till the summer
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure on the bidding war thing, city offered a big salary and £60m a few months ago.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yep and he accepted that at the time, we didn't reduce our terms to him.

OP

Who the hell is Guiseley we win? Guiseley is a little town in north Leeds.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
United We Win, aka Barca we win.
----------------------

That is what I figured, but where did Guiseley come from?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rosso's drunk. Too much sangria, but who can blame him.

If I were to proffer a reason, maybe Rosso is implying UWW is just pretending to be a United supporter.
--------------------

I think he does change the teams quite a bit. But Guiseley just made me laugh.

I used to live next door to Guiseley.

Never saw them play, although I went to see Farsley Celtic a few times. Ten facking quid though to watch some pretty dire football on a terrible pitch.

Expensive pies and beer as well. Still, better than visiting Elland Road.

Same train of thought as Marine I'd say

I live down in Otley. Used to go watch Guiseley a bit, which is why it caught my attention. I have seen a few games at Farsley and played on the pitch a couple of times as a kid. I used to play 5 aside in the sports hall next to the pitch every week for about 12 years. Ruptured my knee ligament in that sports hall (twice).

Fack. Doing your knee ligaments just once is at least one time too many. I've done both of my ankles (on separate occasions) and that ended my footballing days.

Having watched Farsley a couple of times, I actually played a game against some of their reserves in a five-a-side tournament once. We got absolutely mullered. I'm not sure we touched the ball more than about five times. No idea what the score was, but it was in double figures

Yes, it was pretty disappointing. Same knee about 2 years after I did it the first time. I got it repaired, did about 15 months rehab, played again for 6 months and then it went again. I was literally about 5 metres from where I did it the first time.

You don't realise how good these semi-pro footballers are until you play against them. I worked with a lad who played for Guiseley and we had a works team. He played a few times and he was just on a different level to the rest of us.

Yeah, an experienced physio I know said (contrary to other opinions I've heard) that sporting, stress-related ligament injuries are in 99% of cases permanent insofar as the tissue for the rest of its lifetime will be significantly more susceptible to further breakdowns.

The way he put it was once it has happened, given the same treatment, it's only a matter of time before it happens again.

Yeah, some of the semi-pro guys I've played with seemed pretty incredible to me. I still have nightmares about that Farsley five-a-side game.

I suspected that it would go again, but when you have played football at least twice a week for years and years, it is hard to give up. I still miss playing now. What makes it worse is that I used to go snowboarding and now I can't so that either.
