Read this Wagbo..

Possession football allows the opposition to time to take up a strong defensive position, difficult to break down. You will notice this results in you resorting to speculative long shots from outside the box. It also leaves you vulnerable to the counter attack on a turn over because you've gradually pushed up as a unit. And the more times you pass, the more risks you take with increasingly diminishing returns.

To score goals, you need to take risks with the ball. To depart at times from the possession mind set. To move the ball from back to front very quickly. Most importantly, to get the ball and goalscorers in the opposition box as many times as possible. Play the percentages. No need to seek the perfect ball. Just make it difficult for goalkeeper and centre backs. Give your goalscorer a chance.

You can't afford to be snobbish about the use of the long ball. If done well, it's extremely effective. It gets the ball from back to front very quickly, gets the opposition running towards their own goal and cuts down the number of passes at risk of a turn over.

If nothing else, it keeps the opposition always fearful of a sucker punch, hence limiting their own attacking ambition. A boxer will jab and protect from the start, for no other reason than he thinks you have a killer right hook in your locker. But you have to remind him from time to time that you do have the capability and you're prepared to launch it at any given moment. If he works out that you don't have it or don't use it, you're in big trouble.

A good centre forward worth his salt likes nothing better than a forward ball to chase with defenders turned. Ask your goalscorer how he wants it. I'm sure he'll tell you to stop overplaying and give him some service. Put the ball in his direction and let him compete. When he makes the run, be alert and launch it.

A few words would be fine darn, oh well... Just the 4 or 5 of us now...

I think we’ve probably all posted stuff that no-one responds to, it’s just the way it is, I don’t think any of us wants to offend someone else. Also as Hydy said we’re all busy working.

I really hope he changes his mind and comes back. If you’re reading this Darn think of this board as therapy, you can say what you want with no condemnation. And the truly positive thing, as well as being cathartic it’s free 😂

Come back Darn, Jacko and everyone else who used to comment but have now disappeared. This appeal does not include that lot from down the road 😂😂

I think they may be a few from down the road on here in a couple of months ...nice badge btw

I thought darn had spat his dummy out after that long post!!...truth is darn i was at a loss as how to debate our current situation because i honestly dont know how to put it right!...i go to most games home and away and its definately taking its toll on me....its soul destroying watching your team lose nearly every week!

All i know is all we do is pass it sideways and backwards...noeone making runs!..no balls even played forward to run onto or wingers putting crosses in!

And thats wagners tactics!...he needs to go or we go down

I don’t agree with Wagner needs to go, for some reason I still have faith in him, but the rest of your post is spot on Waltz.

Like you I travel up and down the country and I enjoyed the first part of the season but we’ve lost our spark, our fight and our belief. We need to get it back and fast.

It's the equivalent of us debating Donald Trump, we all know he's a loon. I don't know much about Darn and his lifestyle, but I'd swap lives any day of the week.

I'm averaging nearly 60 hrs a week at the moment, all bed and work, I'm run down, fed up and p¡ssed off by towns last few outings, that's putting it mildly.

So come back Darn, we're all here, we read your witty knowledgeable posts, and they are appreciated 👍🏻

That’s a lot of hours Hydy, too many in fact. Can you reduce them in any way or is the sheer numbers of people needing your services dictating your hours?

I think we’re all fed up at the moment but just have to hope we get some fight back and get it back before it’s too late.
