Scotland Thread

I just thought as the rugby thread is dead these days and this is where most of my fellow Scots are at and this is our best chance to win a major competition in any international sport for quite a while I might as well start a thread where we can get the excitement going and discuss our hopes for what Scotland can do in the six nations this year.

First up is Wales and we can go into this match far more hopeful than our opponents. Apart from our injury problems within the front row we go into the six nations with nearly an injury free squad. Whereas almost all of Wales back-line has been taken out and unlike us they have been on terrible form.

This is who I would like to see start against Wales;

15. Hogg
14. Seymour
13. Huw Jones
12. Duncan Taylor
11. McGuigan
10. Russell
9. Price
8. Du Preez
7. Watson
6. Barclay
5. J.Gray
4. R.Gray
3. Welsh
2. McInally
1. Reid

Replacements: Bhatti, Lawson, McCallum, Toolis, Hamilton, Laidlaw, Dunbar, Kinghorn

We go into the six nations with one of the best back-line's in the competition. Hogg, Russell and Jones are some of the best players in their respective positions in the world. Price has been exceptional since coming into the side and Duncan Taylor was incredible for us and Saracens before his injury problems and if he can get back to anywhere near his form of 2016 we have some player on our hands. McGuigan is the joint 2nd top try scorer in the Aviva premiership and Seymour has a close to 1 in 2 try scoring record in Scotland colors. On the bench we have the experience of Laidlaw, the defensive capabilities of Dunbar and the youthful threat of Kinghorn who has already scored 8 tries this season, has beaten the most defenders and gained the most meters in the pro 14 and has the joint 2nd most clean breaks.

Despite our front row injury issues we do have a fairly competent front 3 to start against Wales. Reid is an experienced pro with 27 caps for Scotland, McInally is already being talked about as one of the best No2's in the world and Welsh has been great for Newcastle. 2nd row we have the strong talented partnership of the Gray brothers and we have one of the most balanced back rows in the competition with Barclay, Watson and Du Preez.

Exciting times for Scottish rugby.

I watch the 6 nations and the Rugby world cup, but I don't claim to have any real knowledge of the players or our squad. I just know this is the best team that we've had for years.

I'm the same. I'll watch this and the world cup but that's it. It can be enjoyable but it is the most negative by nature sport I know of

Not the flucking puns again. It's always you on the pun threads Zachs. They just aren't funny and they always kill decent conversation and threads stone dead.

That's rich. You do that without puns

Gay bowl?

Anyway, as an Ulsterman,, Paisley voice of course👍 living in Ireland, within the UK, and half out the EU, I find six nations rugby makes a relaxing break from national identity issues!

Gay Bowl = Super Bowl

Bunch of fat guys running aboot for 5 metered at a time wearing helmets and padding, Rugby is at least a mans sport compared to that guff!!
