It was routinely wheeled out at city fans for years. The tables have turned in recent times though. A little taste of you’re own medicine one could say, I’m sure you’ll find it’s rather... bitter.

Laughable thread, this one.

Firstly, Guardiola. What is he on about? Is this part of a concerted PR effort from Man City to try and appear as if they haven't spent an absolute fortune to become successful?

The fact is City can pay any salary they want. They can pay any tranfer fee they want. As evidenced by their huge spending in recent years.

To claim otherwise is ridiculous.

Then we come to City fans themselves, making a series of absurd comments.


First up, is Boris with this:

"If they're good enough, they'll play."

Absolute nonsense. Young players need time to develop within the team.

Clubs have a choice as to whether they want to try and buy a player more aligned with the finished article they're looking for or to take their time in trying to develop players from their youth set up.

So far, it seems Pep has no interest in the latter.


Gratedbean goes for this old chestnut:

"Obsessed much?"

Yes, that must be it.

It couldn't be that this is a football forum and people debate various news stories, could it?

Pitiful response.

He then followed it up with this:

"I wonder if Bach made his compositions using a wood block just to prove he was a “genius”."

No one is asking Pep to do that.

They're merely questioning why Pep feels the need to announce that there are salaries and transfer fees his club can't pay, when his club has paid the amount they have, because it sounds ridiculous. It's a fair question.


And then of course, LQ waded in:

"You do realise the Portuguese eye gouger was moaning about not being able to spend recently or had the nited style brain freeze procluded they hypocrisy you seem to have."

I criticised Mourinho for his comments, as did many United fans.

So how exactly is it hypocritical to criticise Pep?

Just because LQ (and many others) don't understand the concept of being able to criticise your own manager, doesn't mean we're all like that.
