Charly Musonda to Celtic

He's been linked with just about every team in Europe on loan this Jan but finally official - to Celtic for 18 months. Thoughts?

For me I don't think the loan does him justice. He will get regular gametime, in Europe as well, but unfortunately it's rare for a player who does well in Scottish league to come to England and carry on where they left out. Even Van Dijk and Wanyama who are two of the best exports recently needed further time to develop (and we don't develop we want the finished article). Musonda isn't that young anymore - he'll be 23 when he comes back. I imagine he'll be sold in that summer, not going to lie..

I’ll be seeing him tonight.

I’ll give you my opinion tomorrow

Perfect move for him. While debatable he's gone to the right club (or league more precisely) he's certainly gone to the right manager at the right time. Don't much care for Rodgers as an all encompassing manager but he knows how to improve young players.

It's one of those loans where we can guarantee finality one way or another. He'll either flourish or be exposed. Great business.

As far as I know, Chelsea have got a decent loan fee and if Celtic are not paying his full wage they are paying most of it. Win/Win for everybody....except....those Chelsea fans that are crying out for your many, many, many young players not getting a crack at the first team.

He's been welcomed, he'll get game time, his development path continues and he'll be playing under a good coach of young players.
Don't really care what snobby fans think of Scottish football, in 18 months time he'll be a better player than he is now.

I agree, Hector. Could be good for everyone. Hopefully Musonda will come back a stronger player after getting good first team experience. And this could strengthen our ties with Celtic too - perhaps it will inspire more business.

Well. He cane on in 67th minute and had a couple of superb wee tricks plus a couple of half chances where he just seemed to freeze and take the easy option of passing to a team mate.

Game passed him by which is not surprising seeing as he only joined yesterday. But he looks so lightweight out there 😳

He’ll have to get used to some of the hammer throwers around our league but you can see he has ability.

Oh yeah. And his mum and I think his dad were sat just in front of me. “Hi Mrs Musonda” 😂

Looked like a wee twinkle toes out there tonight.

He’ll be fine. 👍
