Only in PL

Not arguing whether they were penalties or not but why the ref overruled the assistant for the 1st penalty when the linesman said it was offside but didnt hesitate to agree with the linesman for the 2nd penalty after he thought Lamela had dived.

For the first incident, neither of them was sure. We have been told by the ex refs you don't give them unless you are 100% sure. The second, the ref was close enough to know what happened and the angle was right.

A very poor and hesitant referee and perhaps biased based as well on previous games against Liverpool.

Only if you are favouring one team

“Why the ref overturned the assistant advice for the 1st penalty when the linesman said it was offside”

I’ll think you’ll find the Lino said he wasn’t sure if Lovren had touched the ball or not if he had it wasn’t offside!

He wasn’t overruled!
-------
True the lineman was not sure if a Liverpool player touched the ball but nor was the ref and you should not give a big decision unless you are 100% sure. This is what we will always hear from ex refs.

I'm not doubting if they were correct decisions or not . My main argument is the ref had a long argument with his assistant to defend his decision for the first but didn't even think once he heard it from him for the 2nd.

I wouldn’t say it was an “argument” it was a long discussion on whether or not Lovren touched the ball, The Ref obviously believed he’d seen a touch and quite rightly gave the penalty.

As for the second one, the ref wasn’t sure but the Lino was definitely 100% sure about it.

It’s good to see such discussions between officials and the correct decision coming out of it.

It is NOT a deflection - Lovren ELECTS to kick the ball - good grief

I don't even think Karius touched Kane nevermind the offside. 2nd one there was a slight touch buy not for Lamela to go down. Both dived just like Alli who was booked.

We have had some bad decisions going against us this season and cost us many points. Watford 3-3. Everton and Diving Lewin. West Bromwich penalty.

Lovren only attempts to play the ball, to stop it getting to Kane, who is standing in an offside position, so he is clearly affecting play, and is offside.
How many times do we see a player clearly offside, the defenders not sure, so attempts to head or play a ball, then irrespective of what happens next, the flags up, and the players rightly given offside.

Only if it's deliberate then it's offside.
