Mahrez returns to training

Sky sports news reporting that Riyad Mahrez has returned to training today and made himself available for selection against Manchester City.

My question is - why now? The cynic in me says that his team have been made aware that pep is moving on to other targets due to Mahrezs behaviour and he’s now desperate to show he’s over it and is still a player worth singing. In other words - would he be doing this if we were playing Watford at the weekend?

Or.....has he simply come to his senses?

Or......have Leicester given him a cast iron guarantee he can leave in the summer?

It’s a weird one and clearly it’s a surprise for Puel who wasn’t expecting him to be available when interviewed yesterday. Very odd

"It's easier to forgive and move on when he's your best player though.

Would Puel be sympathetic and understanding if one of your shiyte players was acting as petulant and dishonourable as this?"

--------

No he wouldn't and you're right.

Nev - I think it is disrespectful. Puel's not just got him playing again, given him confidence and praise, he's put him at the heart of the team and has him playing better - differently - than before. Mahrez is now demanding the ball, going more central, controlling matches. During the league winning season he looked more like a kid having the time of his life with no responsibility; since Puel arrived he's been encouraged to be an attacking general for the team. I'm sure Puel will brush it off and manage the situation but he's still been treated with disrespect.

Do you think Puel will care if he gets a goals and assists and pushes us up the table and increases Puels bonus.
Some might say that Mahrez has been disrespected.
Stay to the end of the season we will give you a new contract and a pay rise and you can go in the summer oh sorry no january then oh no sorry. Respect goes both ways

I don't believe he's back at training today with the match tomorrow he would of been told to stay away not to unsettle the team but i could be wrong?
As for unsettling the team you foget how many of them including the manager now speak french and the nw french player does not speak any English.

The more i think about it the more angry i am with Man City a bid of £40m and some loan player. unsettled Mahrez stuffed up at least two games. I really hope we give them a tonking. as for disrespecting Puel pah don't be ridiculous and Puel is a manager with a long pedigree and won't be phased by this.

Angry at Man City?

Correct me if I am wrong but no formal bid was made?

Even if they had made a formal bid, it was an open transfer window and they were more than entitled to make one

City are not responsible for how Mahrez reacted.

Mank city contacted the club about a bid at the start of the transfer window and again with two days to go gave three bids and offered one of those bids with a player.
So Mank city are 100% responcible for unsettling a player from another club

Aside from cheekily trying to offload an also-ran on us as part of a deal, I don't see that Man City did anything wrong. They made some bids, they were rejected, life moves on. The fact that Mahrez screamed "let me go" then went off and cried into his £500-per-night hotel pillow for a week when he did get his way is his problem.

This isn’t any clubs fault. Can’t blame Man City for making a lower bid, he would be a squad player for them. Can’t blame Leicester for wanting fair market value

Can’t blame anyone but Mahrez for his reaction ....

We sure are a cynical bunch.... cynical why he is staying away so long.... and then he does make an appearance and we are cynical about that too. lol.
Happy that he has finally shown his face to break the ice so to speak.

Can’t really blame us given his incredibly poor behaviour.

Absolutely . The guy has really lost some credibility with his drama over this

It wouldn't surprise me to see him in the squad.

Perhaps he's judged that sufficient petulance has been shown to underline his desire for a move away in the summer, but before he made a complete hash of things?
